Compact oleic acid in HAMLET [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 2005
HAMLET (human alpha‐lactalbumin made lethal to tumor cells) is a complex between α‐lactalbumin and oleic acid that induces apoptosis in tumor cells, but not in healthy cells. Heteronuclear nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy was used to determine the structure of 13C‐oleic acid in HAMLET, and to study the 15N‐labeled protein.

Proximate composition and fatty acids profiling of Seahorse originated from Simeulue, Aceh-Indonesia [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2022
The aim of this study was to determine the proximate composition, quantitative of fatty acids analysis as well as the content in the seahorse sample, Hippocampus sp which originated from Sibigo waters, Simeulue, Aceh, Indonesia.

A comparison of the metabolism of elaidic, oleic, palmitic, and stearic acids in the rat

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1964
A comparison has been made of the metabolism of 1-C14-labeled oleic, elaidic, palmitic, and stearic acids in the rat. Each acid was fed as a component of randomly rearranged soybean oil. All the acids were more than 96% absorbed.

Short-term changes in plasma and milk fatty acid profiles in cows fed chopped elephant grass-based diets containing two types of sunflower oil associated with two methods of concentrate feeding

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Agrárias, 2021
The study was carried out in a randomized block design, in a 2 x 2 factorial arrangement, with the aim to evaluating during 21 days the short-term changes in plasma and milk fatty acid (FA) profile in Holstein x Gyr cows (444±84 kg; 75±31 days in milk ...

Long-term effects of cis and trans monounsaturated (18:1) and saturated (16:0) fatty acids on the synthesis and secretion of apolipoprotein A-I- and apolipoprotein B-containing lipoproteins in HepG2 cells

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2000
The objective of this study was to compare the long-term effects of oleic (cis 18:1), elaidic (trans 18:1), and palmitic (16:0) acids on hepatic lipoprotein production, using HepG2 cells as an experimental model.

Genetic mapping of QTLs controlling fatty acids provided insights into the genetic control of fatty acid synthesis pathway in peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.). [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Peanut, a high-oil crop with about 50% oil content, is either crushed for oil or used as edible products. Fatty acid composition determines the oil quality which has high relevance to consumer health, flavor, and shelf life of commercial products.

Free-Range Feeding Alters Fatty Acid Composition at the sn-2 Position of Triglycerides and Subcutaneous Fat Physicochemical Properties in Heavy Pigs

open access: yesAnimals, 2021
The nutritional value of fat consumption depends on both the fatty acid composition and the positional distribution of fatty acids within the triglyceride molecule. This research studies the effect of feeding with three different diets (4% lard-enriched;

Palmitic and Oleic Acid: The Yin and Yang of Fatty Acids in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.

open access: yesTrends in endocrinology and metabolism, 2017
Increased plasma non-esterified fatty acids (NEFAs) link obesity with insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). However, in contrast to the saturated FA (SFA) palmitic acid, the monounsaturated FA (MUFA) oleic acid elicits beneficial ...

Dose-effect of dietary oleic acid: oleic acid is conditionally essential for some organs [PDF]

open access: yesReproduction Nutrition Development, 2004
The minimum dietary intake of oleic acid that is indispensable to maintain a normal content of this fatty acid in several tissues (heart, muscle, kidney and testis) was determined in the rat. For this purpose, a dose-effect study was conducted using an experimental protocol with 7 groups of rats who received a diet in which the oleic acid level varied ...
