Smaller is better: nanobodies meet NMR
Nanobodies are single‐domain antigen‐binding fragments derived from camelid heavy chain antibodies. Their small size, high stability, and exceptional specificity make nanobodies uniquely useful probes for NMR studies of protein dynamics, transient conformational states, and protein–protein interactions.

BackgroundThe polymorphism of genes involved in folate-mediated one-carbon metabolism may be a risk factor for neural tube defects (NTDs). In the present study, we aimed to investigate the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the genes BHMT, CUBN ...

Vacuolar H+‐ATPase (V‐ATPase) is a multisubunit rotary proton pump that acidifies intracellular compartments. Using elastic network models, we identified conserved hinge residues that govern its large‐scale functional motions. We show that intrinsically encoded ‘soft modes’ drive critical functional transitions, including rotary catalysis and ...

Background: Increasing evidence has shown that an elevated a level of homocysteine (Hcy) in the blood is related to several diseases. Over the last few years, studies have demonstrated creatine (Cr) synthesis and Hcy formation are metabolically connected;

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Formate Reduces Ischemic Injury in Female Hearts Lacking Alcohol Dehydrogenase 5
Ischemic heart disease is a primary cause of death for men and women in the United States. Recent epidemiologic findings, however, suggest that premenopausal women have inherent protection from many cardiovascular pathologies compared to age‐matched men,

Sex differences in hepatic one-carbon metabolism [PDF]
There are large differences between men and women of child-bearing age in the expression level of 5 key enzymes in one-carbon metabolism almost certainly caused by the sex hormones. These male-female differences in one-carbon metabolism are greatly accentuated during pregnancy.

We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

LUNAR is a liver‐specific long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) that is highly expressed in normal liver but becomes epigenetically silenced in hepatocellular carcinoma through promoter hypermethylation. Loss of LUNAR is associated with NOTCH activation, epithelial–mesenchymal transition, and metastasis, whereas restoring LUNAR restrains metastatic progression ...
