Probing Native CB2 Receptor Mobility in Plasma Membranes of Living Cells by Fluorescence Recovery After Photobleaching

open access: yesChemBioChem, EarlyView.
The study investigates CB2 receptor (CB2R) mobility in live cells using the fluorescent probe RO7304924 and fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP). Results demonstrate the probe‘s efficiency in quantifying receptor diffusion and mobility, with CB2R showing high mobile fractions and diffusion coefficients.

Entropy-driven binding of opioid peptides induces a large domain motion in human dipeptidyl peptidase III

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 2012
Opioid peptides are involved in various essential physiological processes, most notably nociception. Dipeptidyl peptidase III (DPP III) is one of the most important enkephalin-degrading enzymes associated with the mammalian pain modulatory system.

Dose Determinations at Drug Approval Reviews: FDA‐Approved Drugs in Past 5 Years

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Drug dose appropriateness is one of the most discussed issues in regulatory reviews. We analyzed dose determinations during Food and Drug Administration (FDA) drug reviews to determine whether there were changes between the proposed and approved doses of new molecular entities (NMEs), including cases where postmarketing dose‐finding studies were ...

Evaluation of in silico approach for prediction of presence of opioid peptides in wheat

open access: yesJournal of Functional Foods, 2018
Opioid like morphine and codeine are used for the management of pain, but are associated with serious side-effects limiting their use. Wheat gluten proteins were assessed for the presence of opioid peptides on the basis of tyrosine and proline within ...

Bioactive Peptides in Milk and Milk products, Antimicrobial Properties and Effects on Human Health

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Agriculture: Food Science and Technology, 2020
In recent years, apart from the nutritional values of foods, functional properties have also gained importance. Bioactive peptides are the fragmentation products of proteins that have a positive effect on human health.

Towards Better Opioid Antagonists Using Deep Reinforcement Learning [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Naloxone, an opioid antagonist, has been widely used to save lives from opioid overdose, a leading cause for death in the opioid epidemic. However, naloxone has short brain retention ability, which limits its therapeutic efficacy. Developing better opioid antagonists is critical in combating the opioid epidemic.Instead of exhaustively searching in a ...

In vitro and in vivo pharmacological activities of 14-o-phenylpropyloxymorphone, a potent mixed mu/delta/kappa-opioid receptor agonist with reduced constipation in mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Pain, particularly chronic pain, is still an unsolved medical condition. Central goals in pain control are to provide analgesia of adequate efficacy and to reduce complications associated with the currently available drugs.

Endogenous μ‐opioid peptides modulate immune response towards malignant melanoma

open access: yesExperimental Dermatology, 2011
:  Opioids exert major effects not only in the central nervous system but also in immune responses. We investigated the effects of μ‐opioid peptides, secreted by tumor cells, on anti‐tumor immune responses.

Evaluation of the analgesic effect of 4-anilidopiperidine scaffold containing ureas and carbamates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Fentanyl is a powerful opiate analgesic typically used for the treatment of severe and chronic pain, but its prescription is strongly limited by the well-documented side-effects.

Opioid peptides in peripheral pain control.

open access: yesActa Neurobiologiae Experimentalis, 2011
Opioids have a long history of therapeutic use as a remedy for various pain states ranging from mild acute nociceptive pain to unbearable chronic advanced or end-stage disease pain.
