Two putative novel serotypes of Tibet orbivirus isolated from Culicoides spp. in Yunnan, China. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Vet Sci, 2023
Tibet orbivirus (TIBOV) was identified as a novel orbivirus in 2014. Antibodies against TIBOV were detected in cattle, Asian buffalo, and goats, while all the sequenced TIBOV strains were isolated from mosquitos and Culicoides.

Orbivirus Screening from Imported Captive Oryx in the United Arab Emirates Stresses the Importance of Pre-Import and Transit Measures

open access: yesPathogens, 2022
From 1975 to 2021, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) imported more than 1300 live Arabian oryxes (AOs) and scimitar-horned oryxes (SHOs) for conservation programs.

Isolation and genetic characterization of a novel Kevo orbivirus and a strain of Mobuck virus from Ochlerotatus communis mosquitoes in Finland. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Gen Virol
The genus Orbivirus (Reovirales, Sedoreoviridae) comprises several globally important vector-borne animal viruses, such as Culicoides-borne bluetongue virus, African horse sickness virus and epizootic haemorrhagic disease virus (EHDV).

Umatilla virus genome sequencing and phylogenetic analysis: identification of stretch lagoon orbivirus as a new member of the Umatilla virus species. [PDF]

open access: goldPLoS ONE, 2011
The genus Orbivirus, family Reoviridae, includes 22 species of viruses with genomes composed of ten segments of linear dsRNA that are transmitted between their vertebrate hosts by insects or ticks, or with no identified vectors. Full-genome sequence data

Inhibition of Orbivirus Replication by Aurintricarboxylic Acid [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2020
Bluetongue virus (BTV) and African horse sickness virus (AHSV) are vector-borne viruses belonging to the Orbivirus genus, which are transmitted between hosts primarily by biting midges of the genus Culicoides.

Orbivirus RNA in a Banana Serotine (Afronycteris nanus) Bat in the Republic of the Congo

open access: yesEcoHealth, 2022
Orbiviruses are arthropod borne viruses of vertebrates, with some of them being important pathogens of veterinary, conservation and economic importance, while others are occasionally associated with human disease. Some apparently bat specific orbiviruses
