Persufflation—Current State of Play
With the ever-increasing disparity between the number of patients waiting for organ transplants and the number organs available, some patients are unable to receive life-saving transplantation in time.

Original and generic preservation solutions in organ transplantation. A new paradigm? [PDF]
Solid organ transplantation is a very complex process, in which the storage of the graft in a preservation solution is mandatory in order to extend ischemic times and contain further damage.

Principles and current status of abdominal organ preservation for transplantation
Solid organ transplantation provides a definitive treatment for end-stage organ failure. The clinical field has progressed rapidly since its early beginnings during the latter half of the 20th century due to advances in the understanding of ...

A new liver perfusion and preservation system for transplantation Research in large animals [PDF]
A kidney perfusion machine, model MOX-100 (Waters Instruments, Ltd, Rochester, MN) was modified to allow continuous perfusion of the portal vein and pulsatile perfusion of the hepatic artery of the liver. Additional apparatus consists of a cooling system,

Experimental organ preservation
Abstract An experimental model for the study of organ preservation based on the isolated, biologically perfused rat heart is described. Using this model a standard storage solution has been evolved for use with initial perfusion and hypothermic storage. This solution contains Dextran 40 and insulin.

Evaluation of the presence of microorganisms in solid-organ preservation solution
Objective: To assess the presence of microorganism contamination in the preservation solution for transplant organs (kidney/pancreas). Method: Between August 2007 and March 2008, 136 samples of preservation solution were studied prior to graft ...

Tissue conservation for transplantation
Pathophysiological changes that occur during ischemia and subsequent reperfusion cause damage to tissues procured for transplantation and also affect long-term allograft function and survival. The proper preservation of organs before transplantation is a
