Organic anion transporters in remote sensing and organ crosstalk

open access: yesPharmacology & Therapeutics
The organic anion transporters, OAT1 and OAT3, regulate the movement of drugs, toxins, and endogenous metabolites. In 2007, we proposed that OATs and other SLC22 transporters are involved in "remote sensing" and organ crosstalk. This is now known as the Remote Sensing and Signaling Theory (RSST).

Synthesis of AgBiS2 and AgInS2 Based on Formation Energies in Sulfur‐Rich Reducing Flame

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
High‐surface‐area AgInS2 and AgBiS2 nanoparticles were synthesized via enclosed flame spray pyrolysis by tuning flame conditions and formation energies to guide phase formation. Flame parameters were tuned to suppress oxides and enable pure sulfide phase growth.

Functional analysis of rat renal organic anion transporter OAT-K1: bidirectional methotrexate transport in apical membrane

open access: yes, 1999
Renal organic anion transporter OAT-K1 was stably transfected in MDCK cells and examined for its transport characteristics and membrane localization. OAT-K1 mediated both uptake and efflux of methotrexate in the apical membranes.

Spiro‐Phenothiazine Hole‐Transporting Materials: Unlocking Stability and Scalability in Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Fluorene‐functionalized spiro‐phenothiazine (PTZ‐Fl) exhibits strong Li+ affinity and thermal stability, enabling a PCE of 25.75% in small‐area cells and 22.07% in 25 cm2 modules. Under ISOS‐L3 conditions, PTZ‐Flbased devices retain over 80% efficiency after 1000 hours, demonstrating superior stability and scalability compared to spiro‐OMeTAD for next ...

SLC2A9 is a high-capacity urate transporter in humans [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Background Serum uric acid levels in humans are influenced by diet, cellular breakdown, and renal elimination, and correlate with blood pressure, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, gout, and cardiovascular disease. Recent genome-wide association scans have

Drug interactions of meglitinide antidiabetics involving CYP enzymes and OATP1B1 transporter

open access: yesTherapeutic Advances in Endocrinology and Metabolism, 2018
Meglitinides such as repaglinide and nateglinide are useful to treat type 2 diabetes patients who follow a flexible lifestyle. They are short-acting insulin secretagogues and are associated with less risk of hypoglycemia, weight gain and chronic ...

Molecular Mechanism of Ochratoxin A Transport in the Kidney

open access: yesToxins, 2010
The mycotoxin, ochratoxin A (OTA), is thought to be responsible for Balkan endemic nephropathy. OTA accumulates in several tissues, especially in the kidneys and liver.

Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.

Expression of Organic Anion Transporter Polypeptides (OATPs) in Human Breast Carcinoma

open access: yes, 2009
Organic anion transporter polypeptides (OATPs) mediate the transmembrane uptake of endogenous compounds and clinically important drugs in various tissues thereby effecting drug disposition and tissue penetration.

Electrophysiologic characterization of an organic anion transporter cloned from winter flounder kidney (fROAT)

open access: yes, 2000
The two-electrode voltage clamp technique was used to demonstrate translocation of p-aminohippurate (PAH) and related compounds such as loop diuretics in Xenopus laevis oocytes expressing the renal organic anion transporter from winter flounder kidney ...
