Coating of 2% of the surface area of a Ni sheet electrode with a patterned mosaic of PTFE islands of uniform diameters (0.10–0.15 mm) and proximity to each other, decreases its overpotential for hydrogen production by 0.15–0.21 V and amplifies its rate of hydrogen generation by ≈20‐fold at a fixed electrode voltage of −1.15 V (vs. Hg/HgO).
