Photoinduced Selective Construction of Densely Functionalized Spirocyclic Ethers With Carbyne Equivalents

A reactivity programmed cascade between carbyne equivalents and allylic benzoates was developed that sequentially orchestrates all three reactivity modes of carbyne equivalents, enabling the rapid installation of three σ‐bonds at a single carbon center and providing efficient, scalable access to structurally diverse spirocyclic ethers. Dealing With Inbuilt Age: A Bayesian Approach to Radiocarbon Dating of Rice, Bamboo and Charcoal From Non Ban Jak, Thailand

ABSTRACT New radiocarbon determinations from rice grains and bamboo have been obtained from Non Ban Jak, Northeast Thailand. These, along with charcoal, date a late Iron Age building sequence. The results come from short‐lived species and charcoal with potential inbuilt age. We built a series of Bayesian models to obtain a reliable chronology.

Energetic stress in combination with impaired fatty acid oxidation induces sequestration of CoA and adaptation of CoA metabolism

Computational modelling and in vitro liver cell experiments indicate that medium‐chain acyl‐CoA dehydrogenase (MCAD) deficiency causes an accumulation of (especially medium‐chain) acyl‐CoAs at the cost of free CoA (CoASH). A substantial decrease in CoASH impairs flux through many pathways essential for energy homeostasis.
