A redox‐assisted electrocatalysis strategy is proposed for efficient synthesis of azo‐based energetic material 3,3′‐diamino‐4,4′‐azofurazan (DAAzF). The well‐designed Ni‒Co3O4@CC catalyst enables high‐efficiency electro‐oxidation of DAF and cyclic regeneration of Ce3+/Ce4+ redox pair.

A safer, convenient, and scalable synthesis for 3,4-bis­(4-nitro-1,2,5-oxadiazol-3-yl)-1,2,5-oxadiazole-2-oxide (BNFF or DNTF) is described. The obtained products were fully characterized and further confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction.
