Carbene‐Stabilized Phosphenium Oxides and Sulfides

AbstractCarbene→chalcogenophosphenium adducts, which correspond to an intermolecular stabilization mode of the so far elusive, free oxo‐ and thiooxophosphenium species [R2P+=X] (X=O, S) by imidazolylidene (NHC) and diaminocyclopropenylidene (BAC) donors, have been isolated and fully characterized.

Stabilizing nanocrystalline grains in ceramic-oxides

Nanocrystalline ceramic-oxides are prone to grain growth rendering their highly attractive properties practically unusable. Using atomistic simulations of ceria as a model material system, we elucidate a framework to design dopant-pinned grain boundaries that prevent this grain growth.
