Global aspects of p-branes [PDF]
We generalize to dimension $p>1$ the notion of string structure and discuss the related obstruction. We apply our results to a model of bosonic $p$-branes propagating on a principal $G$-bundle, coupled to a Yang--Mills field and an antisymmetric tensor field and in the presence of a Wess-Zumino term in the Lagrangian.

We present a large family of simple, explicit ten-dimensional supergravity solutions describing extended extremal supersymmetric Ramond-Ramond p-branes embedded into time-dependent dilaton-gravity plane waves of an arbitrary (isotropic) profile, with the brane world-volume aligned parallel to the propagation direction of the wave.

This paper deals with p-branes with small but non-zero tension. We prove the existence of canonical transformations, within a perturbation theory, that link specific geometries of p-branes to solvable theories, namely string-like and particle-like theories. The specific shapes correspond to stretched configurations.

Semiclassical p -branes in hyperbolic space [PDF]
Abstract The one-loop effects to the Dirac action of p-branes in a hyperbolic background from the path integral and the solution of the Wheeler–DeWitt equation are analysed. The objective of comparing the equivalent quantization procedures is to study in detail the validity of the semiclassical approximation and divergences associated to

HARMONIC SUPERPOSITIONS OF NONEXTREMAL p-BRANES [PDF]
The plot of allowed p and D values for p-brane solitons in D-dimensional supergravity is the same whether the solitons are extremal or nonextremal. One of the useful tools for relating different points on the plot is vertical dimensional reduction, which is possible if periodic arrays of p-brane solitons can be constructed. This is straightforward for

Black p-branes in heterotic string theory [PDF]
Heterotic string theory has nonsupersymmetric branes whose existence is suggested by the cobordism conjecture. We numerically construct static, spherically symmetric, and asymptotically flat black brane solutions in ten-dimensional heterotic superstring ...

p-Branes and the GZK paradox [PDF]
In spacetimes with asymmetric extra dimensions, cosmic neutrino interactions may be extraordinarily enhanced by p-brane production. Brane formation and decay may then initiate showers deep in the Earth's atmosphere at rates far above the standard model rate. We explore the p-brane discovery potential of cosmic ray experiments.

Intersecting delocalized p-branes [PDF]
A model considered in the paper generalizes supergravity type model to the case of delocalized membrane sources. A generalization of intersecting p-brane solution with delocalized membranes is presented.

Understanding the open string pair production of the Dp/D0 system
Consider a system consisting of Dp and Dp′, placed parallel at a separation and with p − p′ = 2n (assuming p ≥ p′, the integer n ≥ 0 and p′ > 0). When either Dp or Dp′ carries a worldvolume electric flux, one in general expects a non-vanishing open ...
