LLMs as Representation Generators for Gradient‐Free Scientific Optimization: A Case Study in Battery Fast Charging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Large language models serve as representation generators for gradient‐free scientific optimization. Two complementary approaches produce executable battery‐charging policies either directly or through LLM‐designed neural representations coupled to Bayesian optimization.

Q‐LEAP: Millisecond Hyperdimensional Optimization for Full‐Spectrum Optical Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Q‐LEAP integrates physics‐informed residual machine learning with factorization‐machine‐encoded quantum annealing to design full‐spectrum optical metamaterials. It explores a 2108 design space and, in a single 2.56 ms annealing step, reaches 85.83% of the theoretical FoM limit, enabling selective 5‐8 µm emission with 3–5 and 8–14 µm suppression and ∼40×

PBRM1 Deficiency in Microglia Leads to Excessive Neurogenesis and Autism‐Like Behaviors via the CCL5‐CCR1/5‐β‐catenin Signaling Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microglial PBRM1 deficiency drives excessive hippocampal neurogenesis by enhancing CCL5–CCR1/5 signaling, leading to autism‐like behaviors. A pro‐inflammatory IL1α+/TNFα+ microglial subset is identified as a key cellular contributor to this process. PBRM1 represses Ccl5 expression at the transcriptional level.

Modifying Electrochemical Doping in Light‐Emitting Electrochemical Cells With Gold Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that gold nanoparticles placed at an electrode can control how electrochemical doping occurs in organic electronic devices. Particularly, in light‐emitting electrochemical cells, by shifting the light‐emitting region, device efficiency is improved without altering the emissive material. This approach provides a simple and effective way
