Multivalent display of VP28 on chimeric virus-like particles enhances binding to shrimp target tissues: A novel antiviral strategy against white spot syndrome virus [PDF]

open access: yesVeterinary World
Background and Aim: White spot syndrome virus (WSSV) is a devastating pathogen in shrimp aquaculture, with viral protein 28 (VP28) playing a critical role in host cell attachment and entry. The extracellular domain of VP28 (residues 35–95) is immunogenic

Temporal Interference Stimulation Enhances Neural Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Temporal interference (TI) stimulation is proposed as a non‐invasive approach to enhance neural regeneration in the deep brain. Theta‐band TI modulation selectively promotes neural progenitor cell differentiation in vitro and augments hippocampal neurogenesis in amouse model of Alzheimer's disease‐like amyloidosis.

Development of antibody technology to identify natural killer cell surface antigens in Xenopus Laevis [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Natural killer (NK)-like lymphocytes have recently been identified in thymectomised (Tx) Xenopus which are capable of spontaneous cytotoxicity towards the MHC- deficient, allogeneic thymus tumour cell line B(_3)B(_7).

Trends in Presentation, Management, and Survival of Women With Breast Cancer in a Multiethnic, Middle-Income Asian Setting

open access: yesJCO Global Oncology
PURPOSEGranular data on breast cancer (BC) are pertinent for surveillance, planning, and monitoring of cancer care delivery. We determined the trends in clinical presentation, management, and survival of women with BC in a multiethnic middle-income Asian

Field‐Driven Activation of Solid‐State Devices in Open Circuits for Energy Harvesting and Wireless Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Time‐varying electric fields can activate solid‐state devices such as LEDs and capacitors for energy harvesting and powering in open circuits. The response of solid‐state devices to time‐varying electric fields caused by vibrations can be utilised for smart sensing of human motions and object vibrations.

Blunted coronary vasodilator response to uridine adenosine tetraphosphate in post-infarct remodeled myocardium is due to reduced P1 receptor activation

open access: yes, 2013
We previously demonstrated that uridine adenosine tetraphosphate (UNA) exerts a potent vasodilator effect in the healthy porcine coronary vasculature. Since the coronary microvascular effects of Up(4)A after myocardial infarction (MI) are unknown, the ...

Frequencies of interleukin-6, GST and progesterone receptor gene polymorphisms in postmenopausal women with low bone mineral density

open access: yesSão Paulo Medical Journal
CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVE: Osteoporosis is a skeletal disorder characterized by low bone mineral density (BMD). Studies have shown that some of the genetic components relating to lower BMD may be detected by polymorphisms.

SERRATE Regulates Floral Meristem Activity by Antagonizing SHOOT MERISTEMLESS and Repressing Cytokinin Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Floral meristem (FM) activity is crucial for the initiation of floral organs. In this study, SE represses IPT7 expression and cytokinin signaling via both the miR171c‐5p–KNAT2 and miR164c–CUC1/2–KNAT2 regulatory modules, thereby repressing FM activity. In contrast, STM induces both KNAT2 and IPT7 expression.

: Mineralocorticoid receptor as neuroprotective factor

open access: yes, 2012
International audienceMineralocorticoid receptor (MR), highly expressed in the hippocampus, binds corticosteroid hormones and coordinately participates, with the glucocorticoid receptor, to the control of stress responses, memorization, and behavior.

Cascade bioassay evidence for the existence of urothelium-derived inhibitory factor in Guinea pig urinary bladder.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Our aim was to investigate whether guinea pig urothelium-derived bioactivities compatible with the existence of urothelium-derived inhibitory factor could be demonstrated by in vitro serial bioassay and whether purinergic P1 receptor agonists, nitric ...
