Hepatitis C virus E1 protein-specific linear B-cell epitopes, pan-genotype reactivity, and functional relevance

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
BackgroundHepatitis C virus (HCV) infection poses a major global risk for chronic liver disease, underscoring the critical need for prevention. Our previous studies demonstrated that HCV-modified soluble E1/E2F442NYT envelope glycoproteins delivered from

Redox‐Active Tungsten Mono‐Oxo Bis(dithiolene) Complex: A Fast‐Rechargeable Anode for High‐Capacity Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reports the first application of a W‐oxo bis(dithiolene) complex, (Et4N)2[WO(S2C2(C6H5)2)2], as a novel anode material for lithium‐ion batteries. This complex stores Li+ ions via multivalent W‐centered redox processes involving its oxo (WO) and dithiolene (S) sites.

Field‐Driven Activation of Solid‐State Devices in Open Circuits for Energy Harvesting and Wireless Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Time‐varying electric fields can activate solid‐state devices such as LEDs and capacitors for energy harvesting and powering in open circuits. The response of solid‐state devices to time‐varying electric fields caused by vibrations can be utilised for smart sensing of human motions and object vibrations.

SERRATE Regulates Floral Meristem Activity by Antagonizing SHOOT MERISTEMLESS and Repressing Cytokinin Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Floral meristem (FM) activity is crucial for the initiation of floral organs. In this study, SE represses IPT7 expression and cytokinin signaling via both the miR171c‐5p–KNAT2 and miR164c–CUC1/2–KNAT2 regulatory modules, thereby repressing FM activity. In contrast, STM induces both KNAT2 and IPT7 expression.

Stereochemistry of Polypeptide Conformation in Coarse Grained Analysis

open access: yes, 2013
The conformations available to polypeptides are determined by the interatomic forces acting on the peptide units, whereby backbone torsion angles are restricted as described by the Ramachandran plot.

Exceptional Antimodes in Multi‐Drive Cavity Magnonics

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Driven‐dissipative cavity‐magnonics provides a flexible platform for engineering non‐Hermitian physics such as exceptional points. Here, using a four‐port, three‐mode system with controllable microwave interference, antimodes and coherent perfect extinction (CPE) are realized, enabling active tuning to antimode exceptional points.

Macrophages in wound healing: activation and plasticity. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Macrophages are critically involved in wound healing, from dampening inflammation to clearing cell debris and coordinating tissue repair. Within the wound, the complexity of macrophage function is increasingly recognized, with adverse outcomes when ...

Diffusive Mobile Molecular Communications Over Time-Variant Channels

open access: yes, 2017
This letter introduces a formalism for modeling time-variant channels for diffusive molecular communication systems. In particular, we consider a fluid environment where one transmitter nano-machine and one receiver nano-machine are subjected to Brownian

Alcohol‐Adduct Mediated Precursor Stabilization Strategies for Conformal SnO2 Layers in Highly Efficient and Stable Perovskite Solar Modules

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
An alcohol‐adduct‐mediated strategy is employed to stabilize tin isopropoxide for the formation of a homogeneous double electron transport layer (ETL) incorporating SnO2 nanoparticles (NPs). This double‐ETL exhibits improved optical and charge‐transport properties due to reduced defect density and better energy level alignment, resulting in high ...

Impact of the Functional VNTR Variants of the Interleukin-1 Receptor Antagonist and Interleukin-4 Genes on Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesİstanbul Medical Journal, 2019
Introduction:It has been shown that the host immune response and chronic inflammation could play a role as important risk factors for cancer. Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is a common cancer worldwide. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the impact
