Neural palmitoyl-proteomics reveals dynamic synaptic palmitoylation [PDF]
Palmitoylation regulates diverse aspects of neuronal protein trafficking and function. Here a global characterization of rat neural palmitoyl-proteomes identifies most of the known neural palmitoyl proteins-68 in total, plus more than 200 new palmitoyl-protein candidates, with further testing confirming palmitoylation for 21 of these candidates.

Palmitoylation of solute carriers
Post-translational modifications are an important mechanism in the regulation of protein expression, function, and degradation. Well-known post-translational modifications are phosphorylation, glycosylation, and ubiquitination. However, lipid modifications, including myristoylation, prenylation, and palmitoylation, are poorly studied.

Palmitoylation-induced aggregation of cysteine-string protein mutants that cause neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis [PDF]
Recently, mutations in the DNAJC5 gene encoding cysteine-string protein alpha (CSPα) were identified to cause the neurodegenerative disorder adult-onset neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis.

PPT1 regulation of HSP90α depalmitoylation participates in the pathogenesis of hyperandrogenism
Summary: Ovarian granulosa cells (GCs) in the follicle are the important mediator of steroidogenesis and foster oocyte maturation. Evidences suggested that the function of GCs could be regulated by S-palmitoylation.

KAT7‐acetylated and cytoplasm‐translocated G‐protein GαS enhances IL‐6 effect and drives HCC progenitor cell progression. Abstract Background and Aims Hepatocarcinogenesis goes through HCC progenitor cells (HcPCs) to fully established HCC, and the mechanisms driving the development of HcPCs are still largely unknown.

Palmitoylation and depalmitoylation defects [PDF]
Palmitoylation describes the enzymatic attachment of a 16-carbon atom fatty acid to a target protein. Such lipidation events occur in all eukaryotes and can be of reversible (S-palmitoylation) or irreversible (N-palmitoylation) nature.

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) almost invariably acquires an invasive phenotype, resulting in limited therapeutic options. Protein palmitoylation markedly affects tumorigenesis and malignant progression in GBM.

Global, site-specific analysis of neuronal protein S-acylation
Protein S-acylation (palmitoylation) is a reversible lipid modification that is an important regulator of dynamic membrane-protein interactions. Proteomic approaches have uncovered many putative palmitoylated proteins however, methods for comprehensive ...
