Prognostic Risk Model and Tumor Immune Environment Modulation of m5C-Related LncRNAs in Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
RNA methylation modification is a key process in epigenetics that regulates posttranscriptional gene expression. With advances in next-generation sequencing technology, 5-methylcytosine (m5C) modification has also been found in multiple RNAs.

Regression Forest-Based Atlas Localization and Direction Specific Atlas Generation for Pancreas Segmentation [PDF]

open access: yesPublished in Proceedings of MICCAI 2016, LNCS 9901, pp 556-563, 2020
This paper proposes a fully automated atlas-based pancreas segmentation method from CT volumes utilizing atlas localization by regression forest and atlas generation using blood vessel information. Previous probabilistic atlas-based pancreas segmentation methods cannot deal with spatial variations that are commonly found in the pancreas well.

The mechanism of alloxan and streptozotocin action in B cells of the rat pancreas.

open access: yesPhysiological Research, 2001
Alloxan and streptozotocin are widely used to induce experimental diabetes in animals. The mechanism of their action in B cells of the pancreas has been intensively investigated and now is quite well understood.

Single nucleus and in situ RNA sequencing reveals cell topographies in the human pancreas.

open access: yesGastroenterology, 2020
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Molecular evidence of cellular heterogeneity in the human exocrine pancreas has not been yet established, due to the local concentration and cascade of hydrolytic enzymes that can rapidly degrade cells and RNA upon pancreatic ...

Comprehensive prognostic and immune analysis of a glycosylation related risk model in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2023
Background Pancreatic cancer (PC) is a malignant tumor with extremely poor prognosis, exhibiting resistance to chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Nowadays, it is ranked as the third leading cause of cancer-related mortality. Glycation is a common epigenetic

3D FCN Feature Driven Regression Forest-Based Pancreas Localization and Segmentation [PDF]

open access: yesDLMIA 2017, ML-CDS 2017: Deep Learning in Medical Image Analysis and Multimodal Learning for Clinical Decision Support, pp.222-230, 2018
This paper presents a fully automated atlas-based pancreas segmentation method from CT volumes utilizing 3D fully convolutional network (FCN) feature-based pancreas localization. Segmentation of the pancreas is difficult because it has larger inter-patient spatial variations than other organs.

Hierarchical 3D Feature Learning for Pancreas Segmentation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
We propose a novel 3D fully convolutional deep network for automated pancreas segmentation from both MRI and CT scans. More specifically, the proposed model consists of a 3D encoder that learns to extract volume features at different scales; features taken at different points of the encoder hierarchy are then sent to multiple 3D decoders that ...

A Novel Dual-Hormone Insulin-and-Pramlintide Artificial Pancreas for Type 1 Diabetes: A Randomized Controlled Crossover Trial

open access: yesDiabetes Care, 2020
OBJECTIVE The rapid insulin-alone artificial pancreas improves glycemia in type 1 diabetes but daytime control remains suboptimal. We propose two novel dual-hormone artificial pancreas systems.

Risk factors of postoperative pancreatic fistula in patients after distal pancreatectomy: a systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF) is a common complication following distal pancreatectomy (DP). However, the risk factors of this complication in patients after DP still remain controversial.

Frailty and prognosis of patients with kidney transplantation: a meta-analysis

open access: yesBMC Nephrology, 2023
Background The prevalence of frailty among candidates and recipients of kidney transplantation (KT) is well-established, yet the impact of frailty on clinical outcomes following KT remains uncertain.
