The role of ADP-ribosylation in regulating DNA interstrand crosslink repair [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
ADP-ribosylation by ADP-ribosyltransferases (ARTs) has a wellestablished role in DNA strand break repair by promoting enrichment of repair factors at damage sites through ADP-ribose interaction domains. Here, we exploit the simple eukaryote Dictyostelium

PARP-1 and PARylation inhibit TET1 demethylation activity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Since our previous work indicated interplay of Ten-eleven translocation (TET) and Poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) proteins our aim was to further study the effects of their interaction. The ability of recombinant PARP-1 to poly ADP-ribosylate (PARylate) catalytic domains of TET proteins was examined in vitro.

pADP-ribosylation regulates the cytoplasmic localization, cleavage, and pro-apoptotic function of HuR

open access: yesLife Science Alliance
Our current work demonstrates that the non-covalent PARylation of HuR plays a key role in regulating its pro-apoptotic function by preventing its cytoplasmic localization and cleavage.

Aag-initiated base excision repair promotes ischemia reperfusion injury in liver, brain, and kidney [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Inflammation is accompanied by the release of highly reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS) that damage DNA, among other cellular molecules. Base excision repair (BER) is initiated by DNA glycosylases and is crucial in repairing RONS-induced DNA ...

PAR level mediates the link between ROS and inflammatory response in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus

open access: yesRedox Biology
Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is characterized by disrupted glucose homeostasis and metabolic abnormalities, with oxidative stress and inflammation playing pivotal roles in its pathophysiology.

Poly-ADP Ribosyl Polymerase 1 (PARP1) Regulates Influenza A Virus Polymerase

open access: yesAdvances in Virology, 2019
Influenza A viruses (IAV) are evolutionarily successful pathogens, capable of infecting a number of avian and mammalian species and responsible for pandemic and seasonal epidemic disease in humans.

NR4A Nuclear Receptors Target Poly-ADP-Ribosylated DNA-PKcs Protein to Promote DNA Repair

open access: yesCell Reports, 2019
Summary: Although poly-ADP-ribosylation (PARylation) of DNA repair factors had been well documented, its role in the repair of DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) is poorly understood.

Impaired PARylation Turnover in Radiation- Damaged Tissue

open access: yes
PARP inhibitors are used in tumor therapy exploiting their inhibitory role in DNA repair. Radiation therapy leads to DNA damage in the affected region comprising both tumor tissue and adjacent normal tissue. In addition, radiotherapy has long-standing effects on DNA integrity. The mechanisms for this are not well understood.
