Introducing Multicomponent Reactions to Polymer Science: Passerini Reactions of Renewable Monomers
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2011Combination of the Passerini three component-reaction (3CR) and olefin metathesis led to the formation of poly[1-(alkyl carbamoyl)alkyl alkanoates], a new class of polyesters with amide moieties in their side chain, from renewable resources. Two different approaches were studied and compared to each other.

Homologation of Ugi and Passerini reactions using ynamides
Drug Discovery Today: Technologies, 2018Being important biological and pharmacological units, β-amino amides and β-acyloxy amides have a privileged position in both academia and industry. Developing a methods to prepare them has gained attention. Ynamides, which possess dual nucleophilic and electrophilic properties, are similar to isonitriles. In this review, usage of ynamides in the single

Fast and efficient solvent-free Passerini reaction
Tetrahedron Letters, 2012A Passerini three component condensation between a carboxylic acid, an aldehyde, and an isocyanide at high temperature under solvent-free conditions was developed. This methodology allows the formation of a broad range of α-acyloxyamides in excellent yields in short reaction times.

Potentially Prebiotic Passerini-Type Reactions of Phosphates
Synlett, 2008Monoalkyl phosphates can take the place of carboxylic acids in the Passerini reaction, but excesses of aldehyde and isonitriles are required, and transfer of the phosphate to the newly formed hydroxyl group does not take place. By rendering the phosphate addition intramolecular, the efficiency of the reaction is substantially increased.

An intramolecular passerini reaction: Synthesis of hydrastine.
Tetrahedron Letters, 1981Abstract An intramolecular Passerini reaction between 3,4-methylenedioxyphenethylisocyanide and opianic acid is applied in a total synthesis of hydrastine, a phthalideisoquinoline alkaloid.
