Food and Chemical Toxicology, 2012Patulin is a frequently found food contaminant mainly produced by the fungi Aspergillus and Penicillium. Patulin is suspected to be clastogenic, mutagenic, teratogenic and in higher concentrations cytotoxic. Here, we investigate the mechanism of the patulin-induced genotoxicity.

Production of patulin by Micromycetes
Mycopathologia, 1989In the context of the screening for antifungal and antibacterial molecules among the Micromycetes, we investigated the ability of 850 strains grown in liquid medium to produce patulin. The compound was produced by 58 fungi, most of which had not been mentioned in the literature, especially Mucorales and Fungi Imperfecti.
