Cytology‐First Diagnostic Workflow for Melanoma of Unknown Primary With Molecular Profiling

open access: yesCytopathology, EarlyView.
Cytology‑first diagnostic workflow for melanoma of unknown primary. Fine‑needle aspiration of an enlarged lymph node enables rapid cytologic evaluation and immunocytochemical confirmation of melanocytic lineage (SOX10). This early cytologic diagnosis facilitates timely surgical excision and comprehensive genomic profiling, supporting integrated ...

Pax3, Neural Crest and Cardiovascular Development

open access: yesTrends in Cardiovascular Medicine, 1996
The understanding of cardiovascular development has begun a transformation from the descriptive science of anatomy and embryology to a molecular understanding of the cellular and subcellular events leading to proper cardiac morphogenesis. Powerful tools available to molecular geneticists have identified numerous examples of specific gene defects that ...

Miswired Enhancer Logic Drives a Cancer of the Muscle Lineage

open access: yesiScience, 2020
Summary: Core regulatory transcription factors (CR TFs) establish enhancers with logical ordering during embryogenesis and development. Here we report that in fusion-positive rhabdomyosarcoma, a cancer of the muscle lineage, the chief oncogene PAX3-FOXO1

Distinctive gene expression in the reduced first thoracic legs of a nymphalid butterfly

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, EarlyView.
Transcriptome analysis reveals that the small non‐walking front legs of a butterfly have distinct gene expression to the four walking legs. Reduced front legs express a gene with putative mechanosensory roles, a blue‐sensitive opsin and two homeobox genes.

Integrated functions of Pax3 and Pax7 in the regulation of proliferation, cell size and myogenic differentiation.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2009
Pax3 and Pax7 are paired-box transcription factors with roles in developmental and adult regenerative myogenesis. Pax3 and Pax7 are expressed by postnatal satellite cells or their progeny but are down regulated during myogenic differentiation.

Vertical Growth of Facial Soft Tissues: A Longitudinal Three‐Dimensional Facial Growth Study

open access: yesOrthodontics &Craniofacial Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This longitudinal cohort study aimed to assess changes in vertical facial landmarks in individuals aged 10 to 18 years and identify sex differences in growth patterns. Materials and Methods One hundred and one individuals (males, n = 56; females, n = 45) were observed.

Cellular mechanisms underlying Pax3-related neural tube defects and their prevention by folic acid

open access: yesDisease Models & Mechanisms, 2019
Neural tube defects (NTDs), including spina bifida and anencephaly, are among the most common birth defects worldwide, but their underlying genetic and cellular causes are not well understood. Some NTDs are preventable by supplemental folic acid. However,

Reviewing the benefits and clinical outcomes of oral fibroblasts over mesenchymal stem cells for repairing periodontal defects during or after orthodontic tooth movement

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Orthodontic therapy applies forces to teeth, causing an inflammatory reaction in the periodontal ligament. This is repaired by remodeling of the periodontium, allowing tooth displacement. Although orthodontic therapy is mostly initiated during childhood and adolescence, the number of adults seeking this treatment is increasing as our society's

Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells Express the DUX4 Protein: A Basis for Further Vascular Research [PDF]

open access: yesTürk Patoloji Dergisi
Objective: A growing body of evidence suggests a correlation between endothelial cell dysfunction and cancer, as well as facioscapulohumeral dystrophy, both of which are DUX4-related diseases. However, the endogenous expression of DUX4 within endothelial
