Alignment of Micrometer‐Scale Electrospun Fibers Does Not Enhance Performance of Primary Human Renal Proximal Tubular Epithelial Cells

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Materials Research Part B: Applied Biomaterials, Volume 114, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Renal failure remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality, as current renal replacement therapies restore filtration but fail to replicate the kidney's transport, metabolic, and endocrine functions. Bioengineered systems using primary renal epithelial cells show promise in recapitulating these processes, and integration into synthetic ...

Icariside II in Neurological Disorders: Mechanistic Insights Into Alzheimer's Disease, Cerebral Ischemia and Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 9, September 2026.
The graphical abstract represents the underlying neuroprotective potential of ICS II against Alzheimer's disease, Cerebral ischemia and Parkinson disease. ICS II downregulates ROS production, inflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction and apoptosis along with regulating their key signalling pathways.

Natural Product‐Derived Vesicles in Nanotherapeutics

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 15, Issue 9, September 2026.
Natural product‐derived vesicles (NPVs) are an emerging nature‐based nanotherapeutic that can deliver bioactive metabolites into the target site and induce beneficial mechanisms. A practical, chronological bench‐to‐bedside approach throughout the entire NPV development process is expected to resolve challenges encountered in NPV studies.

Nerve Growth Factor Treatment and the Corneal Epithelium: Extracellular Vesicle‐Mediated Signaling

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Biology, Volume 5, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Recombinant human nerve growth factor (NGF) is used to treat patients with impaired corneal wound healing. NGF exerts its effects through complex signaling processes initiated by the binding of one of two cell membrane receptors—TrkA and p75NTR.

From regulatory mechanisms to cutting‐edge applications: Research progress of ultrasound, electrical, magnetic, and optical stimulation in neural modulation

open access: yesJournal of Intelligent Medicine, Volume 3, Issue 3, Page 196-219, September 2026.
Abstract In recent years, the clinical treatment and symptom management of neurological disorders have faced significant challenges due to the high complexity of the nervous system's structure and function. Against this backdrop, physical stimulation techniques have emerged as a vital complementary approach to traditional pharmacological treatments and

Mitochondria as the Hub of Apoptosis: A Comprehensive Insight From Mitochondria to Interactions With Other Organelles

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 9, September 2026.
Mitochondria is the hub of apoptosis in various diseases. The disruption of mitochondrial structure (including membrane rupture, cristae remodeling, and mitochondrial membrane lipid redistribution), the imbalance of mitochondrial dynamics (including fusion and fission, autophagy), the release, disruption, and mutation of mitochondria DNA, as well as ...
