Does a Specialized Niche Market Vegetable Processor Enjoy Bargaining Power?

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Agribusiness companies may achieve competitive advantage through specialization within niche markets. One such niche is the fresh‐cut fruit and vegetable market, which has been steadily growing in Germany. This study examines whether the specialization of a German fresh‐cut producer grants it with market power within this niche market.

Terminated marketing order provided resources to California peach and nectarine growers

open access: yesCalifornia Agriculture, 2020
Marketing orders allow farmers to collectively fund industry-wide services that may be difficult to provide through a voluntary approach. But not all farmers support collective approaches. We employed ballot data from U.S.

Interpretability and Representability of Commutative Algebra, Algebraic Topology, and Topological Spectral Theory for Real‐World Data

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
This article investigates how persistent homology, persistent Laplacians, and persistent commutative algebra reveal complementary geometric, topological, and algebraic invariants or signatures of real‐world data. By analyzing shapes, synthetic complexes, fullerenes, and biomolecules, the article shows how these mathematical frameworks enhance ...

Tissue‐Specific and Spatially Dependent Metabolic Signatures Perturbed by Injury in Male and Female Mice

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Osteoarthritis, the leading cause of disability worldwide, disproportionately affects women, yet sex remains an overlooked determinant. This disparity stems from sex‐specific differences in injury susceptibility—a major risk factor for disease.

Membrane lipid metabolism is involved in regulating γ‐aminobutyric acid‐mediated cold tolerance in peach fruit

open access: yesFood Frontiers, 2023
The cold‐sensitive peach fruits are prone to chilling injury (CI). γ‐aminobutyric acid (GABA) has been confirmed to effectively improve peaches’ cold tolerance. This research aimed to probe the role of dynamic changes in membrane lipid metabolism in GABA‐

To Peach or Not to Peach

open access: yes, 2013
In his lyric persuasiveness over Hades and Per-sephone, Orpheus—Pindar’s “father of song”—sug-gests an especially lovely instance of what Kathleen Biddick invokes as “master signifier.” The story of Orpheus likewise describes the break of La-canian ligature. As dyad, Orpheus and Eurydice are most heart-breaking, not

One‐Step Electrodeposition of Iron Oxyhydroxide Onto 3D Porous Graphene Substrates for on Chip Asymmetric Micro‐Supercapacitors

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2025.
A micro‐supercapacitor with electrodeposited iron oxyhydroxide (FeOOH) as the negative electrode and birnessite manganese oxide (MnO2) as the positive electrode achieves a 2 V working voltage, stable cycling in an aqueous electrolyte, and high energy and power densities of 21 μWh cm‐2 and 2.5 mW cm‐2 respectively.

Orchard netting impacts on biodiversity leading to cascading effects at the ecosystem level

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Agriculture must ensure food production without further compromising the ecosystem functions upon which it depends. Agricultural practices should therefore avoid harming farmland biodiversity, especially of taxa that supply the key ecosystem services (e.g.

Pro‐Organic by Design: Choice Architecture Shaping Online Organic Grocery Purchases

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Consumer uptake of organic food is shaped by both personal values and the way choices are structured in the retail environment. Unlike prior research, we here investigate how elements of supermarket choice architecture influence organic choices.
