N6-methyladenosine regulates PEDV replication and host gene expression

open access: yesVirology, 2020
Methylation of the N6 position of adenosine (m6A) is a widespread RNA modification that is critical for various physiological and pathological processes. Although this modification was also found in the RNA of several viruses almost 40 years ago, its biological functions during viral infection have been elucidated recently.

Combining herbal fermentation with Lactobacillus expressing recombinant PEDV-S1 protein offers protection against PEDV infection

open access: yesAnimals and Zoonoses
The porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) causes porcine epidemic diarrhea, an acute, highly contagious infectious disease that has caused significant economic losses in the global pig industry. Due to the high variability of PEDV, vaccines based on classical strains no longer provide effective immune protection, and no specific antiviral drugs have ...

Inactivated Pseudomonas PE(ΔIII) exotoxin fused to neutralizing epitopes of PEDV S proteins produces a specific immune response in mice

open access: yesAnimal Diseases, 2021
Porcine epidemic diarrhea (PED) caused by the porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV), is a severe infectious and devastating swine disease that leads to serious economic losses in the swine industry worldwide.

Molecular Detection of Alpha‐ and Betacoronaviruses in Bats from Afar Region, Ethiopia

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 3, May 2026.
Bats are critical reservoirs of coronaviruses, yet gaps remain in understanding coronavirus diversity within bat populations in Eastern Ethiopia. A total of 141 bats were captured: 129 Chaerephon pumilus, 11 Epomophorus labiatus and 1 Mops condylurus. Coronaviruses detected in eight bats.

Coronavirus Nsp3 Hijacks CLTC to Modulate Autophagosome Nucleation for Promoting DMV Formation and Viral Replication

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 24, 27 April 2026.
In wild‐type cells, FIPV infection recruits CLTC to nsp3, facilitates DMV biogenesis and block autophagic flux to promote viral replication. CLTC knockout impairs autophagosome nucleation by reducing Beclin1–ATG14 complex expression. This disrupts the formation of autophagic precursor membranes, thereby preventing their hijacking by nsp3 for DMV ...

Global Dynamics of Porcine Enteric Coronavirus PEDV Epidemiology, Evolution, and Transmission

open access: yesMolecular Biology and Evolution, 2023
AbstractWith a possible origin from bats, the alphacoronavirus Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) causes significant hazards and widespread epidemics in the swine population. However, the ecology, evolution, and spread of PEDV are still unclear.

Nano‐ and Micro‐Sized Solid Materials Used as Antiviral Agents

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 26, 30 March 2026.
Due to the rise of viral infections in humans and possible viral outbreaks, the use of nano‐ or micro‐sized materials as antiviral agents is rapidly increasing. This review explores their antiviral properties against RNA and DNA viruses, either as a prevention or a treatment tool, by delving into their mechanisms of action and how to properly assess ...

Emerging strains of porcine epidemic diarrhoea virus (PEDv) in Mexico [PDF]

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases, 2019
As an emerging disease, the porcine epidemic diarrhoea virus has caused substantial economic losses to the pork industry in Mexico, leading to piglet mortality rates of up to 100%. For detection, sequencing and genetic characterization of the virus, 68 samples of one-week-old piglets from pork farms in 17 states of Mexico were analysed.

Proteomic and Metabolomic Profiling Elucidate the Impact of PEDV on Yorkshire Piglets and Reveal the Underlying Molecular Mechanism of PEDV Response

open access: yesAgriculture, 2023
Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) is an RNA virus causing acute diarrhea, vomiting, dehydration and high mortality in piglets, and poses significant challenges for the global pig industry. However, the molecular mechanism underlying PEDV in piglets has not been well comprehended.
