Aims: The aim of this study was to analyse the nucleotide sequences of regions encoding the penicillin-binding domains of pbp1A, pbp2B and pbp2X genes and murM alleles from 14 selected amoxicillin-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae isolates (MICs 8-16 mg/

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

A New, Highly Sensitive Method for the Detection and Quantification of Penicillin-Binding Proteins [PDF]
peer reviewedA new method for the identification and quantification of penicillin-binding proteins is described which uses fluorescein-coupled penicillins. It allows the rapid detection of 0.2 pmol with the naked eye and 2 fmol with the help of an A.L.F.

For intracellular Chlamydiaceae, there is no need to withstand osmotic challenges, and a functional cell wall has not been detected in these pathogens so far. Nevertheless, penicillin inhibits cell division in Chlamydiaceae resulting in enlarged aberrant

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

The penicillin binding proteins and beta-lactamases of Neisseria gonorrhoeae [PDF]
Several strains of Neisseria gonorrhoeae have been characterised and minimum inhibitory concentrations of benzyl penicillin and methicillin against each strain were determined.

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for
