Peptide fragmentation by keV ion-induced dissociation

Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2010
We have studied multiple ionization and dissociation of a trapped protonated peptide (leucine enkephalin) as induced by keV singly and doubly charged ions (H(+), He(+, 2+)) to demonstrate the potential of keV ions as a future tool for peptide identification.

Lipolytic Activity of a Peptide Fragment of Porcine Secretin

Endocrinology, 1969
Synthetic porcine secretin, a peptide chain of 27 amino acids, accelerates li poly sis in rat and mouse fat cells. Six synthetic fragments of the porcine secretin molecule have now been assayed for lipolytic activity on free fat cells of the rat: peptides 23–27, 14–27, 9–27, 5–27, 5–14 and 1–14.

Mechanisms of fragmentation of cationic peptide ions

International Journal of Mass Spectrometry and Ion Processes, 1993
Abstract Fragmentation mechanisms for formation of several commonly occurring product ions in high-energy collision-induced induced decomposition spectra of either (M + Cat 2+ − H) + ions of peptides cationized with alkaline earth metal ions, (M + Ca + ) + ions cationized with alkali metal ions, or (M + H) + ions are evaluated by using deuterium ...

Fragmentation studies of peptides: The formation of Y ions

Rapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, 1992
AbstractThe mechanism for the formation of y ions in the collision‐induced dissociation (CID) spectra of protonated peptides produced by fast‐atom bombardment was investigated by tandem mass spectrometry and deuterium labelling studies. The results show that a hydrogen atom attached to nitrogen and not to carbon migrates during cleavage of the amide ...

Self-Assembly and Hydrogelation of an Amyloid Peptide Fragment

Biochemistry, 2008
The self-assembly of a fragment of the amyloid beta peptide that has been shown to be critical in amyloid fibrillization has been studied in aqueous solution. There are conflicting reports in the literature on the fibrillization of Abeta (16-20), i.e., KLVFF, and our results shed light on this.
