Primary Peritoneal Carcinosarcoma With Metastasis to the Umbilicus and Pancreas [PDF]
A 51-year-old woman visited our hospital after being diagnosed with ascites effusion by her previous physician due to weight gain for 6 months. Ascites cytology showed adenocarcinoma, MRI showed an omental cake, and CT showed neoplastic lesions in the umbilicus and pancreas. Laparoscopy revealed that the omentum had been replaced by a tumor.

MiR-136 inhibits gastric cancer–specific peritoneal metastasis by targeting HOXC10
Functions of microRNAs have been characterized in the embryologic, physiologic, and oncogenic processes, but the role of microRNAs in mediating tumor-specific organ metastasis was addressed only recently and still absent in gastric cancer peritoneal ...

Peritoneal Metastasis: Current Status and Treatment Options [PDF]
Peritoneal metastasis (PM) originating from gastrointestinal cancer was considered a terminal disease until recently. The advent of better systemic treatment, a better understanding of prognostic factors, and finally, the advent of novel loco-regional therapies, has opened the door for the multimodal treatment of PM. These strategies, including radical

Animal models of colorectal peritoneal metastasis
Abstract Colorectal cancer remains an important cause of mortality worldwide. The presence of peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC) causes significant symptoms and is notoriously difficult to treat. Therefore, informative preclinical research into the mechanisms and possible novel treatment options of colorectal PC is essential in order to ...
