Impaired flickering of the permeability transition pore causes SPG7 spastic paraplegia
Background: Mutations of the mitochondrial protein paraplegin cause hereditary spastic paraplegia type 7 (SPG7), a so-far untreatable degenerative disease of the upper motoneuron with still undefined pathomechanism. The intermittent mitochondrial ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Reservoir pore structure is a key factor affecting oil and gas productivity. Accurately characterizing the microscopic pore structure of tight sandstone reservoirs is very important for oil and gas exploration and development. The deep coal measure tight

Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Predicting gas–water permeability in hydrate-bearing sediments considering hydrate morphology
Permeability is a key parameter controlling fluid flow in hydrate reservoirs and plays a critical role in determining gas production capacity and exploitation efficiency.

Physiopathology of the Permeability Transition Pore: Molecular Mechanisms in Human Pathology
Mitochondrial permeability transition (MPT) is the sudden loss in the permeability of the inner mitochondrial membrane (IMM) to low-molecular-weight solutes.

LVRF (lymphatic and vascular resistance factor) is a VEGFA splice variant upregulated in response to anti‐angiogenic therapy that fosters tumor adaptation through enhanced vascularization, lymphangiogenesis, and metastatic dissemination. Targeting LVRF with fully human neutralizing antibodies disrupts these processes and limits resistant tumor growth ...

On the Voltage Dependence of the Mitochondrial Permeability Transition Pore. A Critical Appraisal.
The mitochondrial permeability transition pore, a cyclosporin A-sensitive channel, can be opened by the addition of protonophoric uncouplers such as carbonyl cyanide p-trifluoromethoxyphenylhydrazone (FCCP) after energy-dependent accumulation of Ca2+. We

Identifying the components of the elusive mitochondrial permeability transition pore [PDF]
The mitochondrial permeability transition pore (MPTP) describes an inducible activity that regulates solute exchange between mitochondrial matrix contents and the surrounding cytoplasm, which acutely leads to loss of mitochondrial inner membrane potential but eventually organelle swelling and rupture.
