Effect of Oxidation on the Extraction of Humic Acid From Lignite
Humic acid is a naturally occurring and structurally complex organic acid widely distributed in nature with important applications in agriculture, environmental protection, materials science, and medicine. In this study, three oxidants (H2O2, ClO2, and CH3COOOH) were used to pretreat lignite, followed by alkaline dissolution and acid precipitation to ...

Cross‐contamination between carcasses can occur during slaughter if tools are contaminated with pathogenic microorganisms. To prevent this, the EU Hygiene Regulation requires disinfection of these tools with water of at least 82°C or an equivalent alternative. A Dutch slaughterhouse proposed using disinfectant VR 2827‐3 instead of hot water.

This study evaluated the effect of UV‐C light (45‐cm length, 254‐nm wavelength, minimum intensity 0.573 mW/cm2) for 3, 6, 9, 12, and 24 h on microbial contamination in raw chicken products. UV‐C treatment significantly reduced Salmonella spp. and Enterobacterales levels, with the most effective reduction observed after 6 h of exposure.

Abstract Accurate representation of aerosol size distributions and total number concentrations is critical for evaluating particle impacts on climate, clouds, and public health. An Advanced Particle Microphysics model (APM) has been integrated into the USEPA's Community Multiscale Air Quality Modeling System (CMAQ) to improve its representation of ...

It is generally assumed that the putative compound I (cpd I) in cytochrome P450 should contain the same electron and spin distribution as is observed for cpd I of peroxidases and catalases and many synthetic cpd I analogues.
