Pertactin, a membrane-associated protein of Bordetella pertussis, has been crystallized in the presence of 28% ammonium sulphate. The space group is P6(3)22 with cell dimensions a = b = 178.2 A and c = 106.8 A. The crystals diffract to 3.3 A using a rotating anode source and are suitable for an X-ray structure determination.

Purification of bacterial virulence factor pertactin using high affinity ligands
Biochemical Engineering Journal, 2020Abstract Pertussis, or whooping cough, is a contagious bacterial disease, caused by Bordetella pertussis. It is airborne and causes coughing fits, difficulty in breathing, and even death. Whooping cough is life-threatening but could be prevented by proper immunization. The common format of the acellular vaccine comprises a mixture of pertussis toxin,

The preparation of A purified immunogenic pertactin from B. pertussis.
The Egyptian journal of immunology, 2010Pertactin, an outer membrane protein of Bordetella pertussis, was purified to apparent homogeneity. The purified pertactin was first extracted from the B. pertussis cells (strain 165) by heating for 1 h at 60 degrees C, followed by DEAE-Sepharose and Affi-Gel Blue chromatography.

Crucial role of antibodies to pertactin in Bordetella pertussis immunity
The Journal of Infectious Diseases, 2003Pertussis, a serious infectious disease of the respiratory tract caused by Bordetella pertussis, is reemerging in vaccinated populations. Efforts to curtail this disease are hampered by limited insight into the basis of protective immunity. Opsonophagocytosis was recently found to play a central role in cellular bactericidal activity against B ...
