Reprogramming Metabolic Flux in Escherichia Coli to Enhance Chondroitin Production

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 11, Issue 10, March 13, 2024.
In this study, metabolic flux is systematically reprogrammed to build an efficient microbial cell factory for chondroitin production by regulating flux size, flux direction, and flux rate using static valve, dynamic positive valve, and dynamic negative valve. It offers a new insight for synthesizing other valuable chemicals.

Leveraging GWAS data to identify metabolic pathways and networks involved in maize lipid biosynthesis

open access: yesThe Plant Journal, Volume 98, Issue 5, Page 853-863, June 2019., 2019
Summary Maize (Zea mays mays) oil is a rich source of polyunsaturated fatty acids (FAs) and energy, making it a valuable resource for human food, animal feed, and bio‐energy. Although this trait has been studied via conventional genome‐wide association study (GWAS), the single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP)‐trait associations generated by GWAS may miss ...

Guanosine nucleotides link cell wall metabolism and protein synthesis during entry into quiescence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Quiescence, a transitory period of non-growth, is a ubiquitous aspect that is present in all organisms. In addition to being present in all forms of life, quiescence is a feature that has been observed in cells that are important for human health ...

(pp)pGpp alarmone synthesis activities of Sa-RelP and Sa-RelQ.

open access: yes, 2019
Panels A−I show representative anion-exchange chromatograms performed under analogous conditions (as described in Materials and methods). Panels A−C show mixtures of pure nucleotides (A) ATP, ADP and AMP, (B) GTP, GDP and GMP, (C) pGpp, ppGpp and pppGpp.

V0/[S] plots used to calculate enzymatic kinetic parameters for (pp)pGpp synthesis activities of Sa-RelP.

open access: yes, 2019
Panels A−C respectively show the plots of rate of pppGpp, ppGpp and pGpp synthesis (V0; Y-axis, in units of μM / minute) versus GTP, GDP, or GMP substrate concentrations ([S]; X-axis; in micromolar units), for sets of assays performed to calculate the ...

Functional Analysis of Alarmone Metabolizing Proteins from Fusobacterium nucleatum

open access: yes, 2023
Objectives: Two ‘alarmone’ second messengers: guanosine pentaphosphate (pppGpp) and guanosine tetraphosphate (ppGpp) play key roles in the stringent response, which promotes bacterial stress resistance, persistence and virulence. The aim of our study was
