Cholesterol esterase action on human high density lipoproteins and inhibition studies: detection by MALDI-TOF MS

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2005
The modification of lipoproteins by lipolytic enzymes such as cholesterol esterase (CEase) is assumed to play an important role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. However, details of the activation and inhibition of CEase are still unknown.

Liposomal Delivery of L‐2‐Hydroxyglutarate for Targeting Epigenetic Dysregulation in Osteoarthritis

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Osteoarthritis involves cartilage degeneration, inflammation, and epigenetic dysregulation. A liposomal formulation of the TET1 inhibitor L‐2‐hydroxyglutarate to overcome rapid joint clearance was developed. The formulation showed good physicochemical properties, reduced inflammatory and catabolic gene expression in chondrocytes, and alleviated ...

Caracterização da pureza de fosfatidilcolina da soja através de RMN de ¹H e de 31P Characterization of soybean phosphatidylcholine purity by ¹H and 31P NMR

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2008
A strategy is proposed to evaluate the purity of phosphatidylcholine from soybean lecithin, obtained by extraction or column chromatography, using the integrals ratio of ¹H NMR spectra.

A lifespan staging model of basal forebrain cholinergic vulnerability. [PDF]

open access: yesAlzheimers Dement
Abstract The cholinergic neurons of the basal forebrain are among the most vulnerable cell types to age‐ and Alzheimer's disease‐related dysfunction and neurodegeneration. However, the biological bases of basal forebrain cholinergic vulnerability (the why) and the temporal sequence (the how) have yet to be fully resolved.

The Effects of Enzyme Pretreatment Extraction on Lipid Recovery With Normal Phase HPLC

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT With the increasing interest in the commercialization of microalgal fermentation‐based products, sustainable and efficient oil extraction methods have been developed for manufacturing and analytical testing. Due to the variability and resilience of micro‐algae cell walls, traditional lipid extraction methods such as Folch and Bligh and Dyer ...

Degradation Mechanisms, Encapsulation‐Based Stabilization, and Analytical Detection of Vitamin A

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Vitamin A is an important lipid‐soluble micronutrient essential for vision, immune function, and overall growth and development. However, vitamin A is unstable and susceptible to environmental factors because of its conjugated structure and inherent chemical reactivity.

PEG Alternatives in Liposomal Nanocarriers: Physicochemical Characteristics and Sustainable Process Strategies

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The global trend toward sustainable and intensified bioprocesses is driving innovation in the design and scalable synthesis of liposomal nanocarriers, a cornerstone of modern drug delivery. For decades, these nanosystems have relied exclusively on polyethylene glycol (PEG) for their sustained circulation in vivo, but they are currently ...

Fasting and Refeeding Mediated Phospholipid Remodeling Plays an Important Role in Improving Meat Quality of Aged Laying Hens

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study explored fasting‐induced physiological remodeling effects on meat quality in aged laying hens. Fasting for 15 days (F15) significantly reduced abdominal fat, intermuscular fat width, subcutaneous fat thickness, and liver index versus pre‐fasting (F0) (p < 0.05), which recovered post‐refeeding.
