Lipid droplets formation and their effects on phosphatidylinositol level in yeasts [PDF]
Lipid droplets (LDs) are conserved specialized organelles that are surrounded by a single phospholipid layer, enclosing neutral lipids in form of triacylglycerol (TAG) and/or sterol ester.

Phosphatidylinositol (4,5)-bisphosphate turnover by INP51 regulates the cell wall integrity pathway in "Saccharomyces cerevisiae" [PDF]
Signal transduction pathways are important for the cell to transduce external or internal stimuli where second messengers play an important role as mediators of the stimuli. One important group of second messengers are the phosphoinositide family present

Phosphatidylinositol-specific phospholipase C (PI-PLC) enzymes are a virulence factor in many Gram-positive organisms. The specific activity of the Bacillus thuringiensis PI-PLC is significantly increased by adding phosphatidylcholine (PC) to vesicles ...

BIOSYNTHESIS OF PHOSPHATIDYLINOSITOL [PDF]
Interest in our laboratory in the inositol lipids derives from the presence of relatively high amounts of phosphatidylinositol phosphate (PhIP) and phosphatidylinositol diphosphate (PhIPP) in excitable tissue. It was with this relationship in mind that we embarked on a study of biosynthetic pathways of inositol lipids several years ago. A first step in

Phosphatidylinositol Stabilizes Fluid-Phase Liposomes Loaded with a Melphalan Lipophilic Prodrug
Previously, a liposomal formulation of a chemotherapeutic agent melphalan (Mlph) incorporated in a fluid lipid bilayer of natural phospholipids in the form of dioleoylglyceride ester (MlphDG) was developed and the antitumor effect was confirmed in mouse ...

The recruitment and activation of phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate 5-kinases α critically regulate CD28-dependent signaling responses [PDF]
CD28 costimulatory receptor is a crucial determinant of the outcome of T lymphocyte activation. The engagement of CD28 by its natural ligands, B7.1/CD80 or B7.2/CD86, expressed on the surface of professional APC, lowers T cell receptor (TCR) activation ...

Mammalian Phosphatidylinositol 4‐Kinases [PDF]
AbstractThree phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase isoforms, PI4K 230, 92 and 55 have been cloned and sequenced allowing a much wider characterization than the previously employed enzymological typing into type II and III enzymes. PI4K 230 and 92 contain a highly conserved catalytic core, PI4K55 one with a much lower degree of similarity.
