Cholestasis alters brain lipid and bile acid composition and compromises motor function in neonatal piglets

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, 2022
Infants with neonatal cholestasis are prone to neurodevelopmental deficits, however, the underlying pathogenesis is unclear. Lipid malabsorption and accumulation of potentially neurotoxic molecules in the blood such as bile acids are important yet ...

Untargeted Lipidomics and Chemometric Tools for the Characterization and Discrimination of Irradiated Camembert Cheese Analyzed by UHPLC-Q-Orbitrap-MS

open access: yesFoods, 2023
In this work, an investigation using UHPLC-Q-Orbitrap-MS and multivariate statistics was conducted to obtain the lipid fingerprint of Camembert cheese and to explore its correlated variation with respect to X-ray irradiation treatment.

Molecular structure of the "low molecular weight antigen" of Toxoplasma gondii: a glucose alpha 1-4 N-acetylgalactosamine makes free glycosyl-phosphatidylinositols highly immunogenic.

open access: yesJournal of Molecular Biology, 1997
Toxoplasma gondii is a ubiquitous parasitic protozoan causing congenital infection and severe encephalitis in the course of the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. Glycosyl-phosphatidylinositols of T.

Biological characteristics of SARS-CoV-2 resistant populations by integrated gut microbiota sequencing, metabolomics, and proteomics: a cohort comparison study

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
ObjectiveMost research reports on COVID-19 infections have focused on the correlation between the severity of the disease symptoms and immune deficits, while the mechanisms affecting the susceptibility to SARS-CoV-2 remain largely unknown.

Nuclear phosphatidylinositols decrease during S-phase of the cell cycle in HeLa cells.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1994
In the current study we have measured phosphatidylinositols during the cell cycle. HeLa cells were labeled with [3H]myoinositol to a steady state, synchronized to the G1/S boundary, and the levels of phosphatidylinositol (PtdIns) lipids were measured at ...

Lipidomic Analysis of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii under Nitrogen and Sulfur Deprivation. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Chlamydomonas reinhardtii accumulates lipids under complete nutrient starvation conditions while overall growth in biomass stops. In order to better understand biochemical changes under nutrient deprivation that maintain production of algal biomass, we ...

Metabolic Heavy Isotope Labeling to Study Glycerophospholipid Homeostasis of Cultured Cells

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2017
Glycerophospholipids consist of a glycerophosphate backbone to which are esterified two acyl chains and a polar head group. The head group (e.g., choline, ethanolamine, serine or inositol) defines the glycerophospholipid class, while the acyl chains ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Lipid mapping in human dystrophic muscle by cluster-time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry imaging

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2008
Human striated muscle samples, from male control and Duchenne muscular dystrophy-affected children, were subjected to cluster-time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (cluster-ToF-SIMS) imaging using a 25 keV Bi3+ liquid metal ion gun under static ...
