Peel-off resection of the pituitary gland for functional pituitary adenomas: pathological significance and impact on pituitary function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Purpose: Functional pituitary adenomas (FPAs) lacking a well-defined pseudocapsule can invade the adjacent pituitary gland. In such situations, peel-off resection of the adjacent pituitary gland after selective adenomectomy might lead to complete tumor ...

Molecular network study of pituitary adenomas

open access: yes, 2020
Pituitary adenomas are a category of neoplasms with a high degree of heterogeneity that occur in the central regulatory organ pituitary, which plays important roles in the hypothalamus–pituitary-targeted organ axis systems that impact on important ...

Recurrent Hypothermia and Autonomic Dysfunction Secondary to Shapiro Syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A 44‐year‐old man presented with recurrent hypothermia, diaphoresis and hypertension. Extensive investigation for infectious, inflammatory, metabolic and endocrine aetiologies was negative. MR scan of the brain demonstrated no lesions but revealed callosal dysgenesis, consistent with Shapiro syndrome.

Development of a Novel Algorithm to Identify People with High Likelihood of Adult Growth Hormone Deficiency in a US Healthcare Claims Database

open access: yesInternational Journal of Endocrinology, 2022
Objective. Adult growth hormone deficiency (AGHD) is an underdiagnosed disease associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Identifying people who may benefit from growth hormone (GH) therapy can be challenging, as many AGHD symptoms resemble those

New Onset of Fibromyalgia After Exposure to a Combat Environment: A Longitudinal Cohort Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Traumatic life events are hypothesized to be triggers for the onset of fibromyalgia. Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a common comorbidity of fibromyalgia. However, limited prospective data are available on the development of fibromyalgia after exposure to high‐magnitude stress.

Novel somatic variants involved in biochemical activity of pure growth hormone-secreting pituitary adenoma without GNAS variant

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
We aimed to identify somatic genetic alterations in pure growth hormone (GH)-secreting pituitary adenomas without GNAS variants. Patients with GH-secreting pituitary adenoma who underwent transsphenoidal adenomectomy at Severance Hospital, Yonsei ...

Functional Precision Oncology Approach Using Nanoliter Droplet Array for Drug Sensitivity Testing in Lung Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A miniaturized drug sensitivity and resistance testing (DSRT) workflow based on the Droplet Microarray (DMA) platform enables functional drug testing using minimal patient‐derived tumor material. By screening nanoliter‐scale droplets containing as few as 300 cells, this approach generates reproducible and tumor‐specific drug response profiles ...

Self‐Assembled Skin Equivalents with Monoclonal CRISPR/Cas9‐Modified N/TERT‐1 Keratinocytes: A Cutting‐Edge model for Human Skin and its Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐assembled, scaffold‐free full‐thickness skin equivalents with monoclonal, genetically modified N/TERT‐1 keratinocytes represent a novel in vitro model of human skin and skin diseases. The model is highly robust, reproducible, physiologically relevant, and suitable for high‐throughput applications.

Pathological characteristics of reoperated regrowing clinically nonfunctioning pituitary tumor cases in comparison with initial surgical cases

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology
ObjectivePostoperative nonfunctioning pituitary tumor (NFPT) regrowth is a significant concern, but its predictive factors are not well established. This study aimed to elucidate the pathological characteristics of NFPTs indicated for reoperation for ...

Gene Expression and the Physiological Role of Transforming Growth Factor-α in the Mouse Pituitary

open access: yes, 2003
Transforming growth factor-alpha (TGF-alpha), a member of the epidermal growth factor (EGF) family, is produced within the mouse anterior pituitaries. However, the cell types of TGF-alpha-expressing cells and the physiological roles of TGF-a within mouse
