An intraperitoneal injection of leucine-enkephalin into rats stimulates gonadotropin and prolactin release. To elucidate the mechanism of this releasing property of leucine-enkephalin, rat hemipituitaries were incubated with either enkephalin alone or enkephalin in combination with LHRH.
