Interaction of genetic risk score (GRS) and Plant-Based diet on atherogenic factors and body fat distribution indices among women with overweight and obesity: a cross-sectional study

open access: yesScientific Reports
The association between plant-based diets, obesity, cardiovascular disease (CVD), and genetic predisposition is still not fully understood. This study explored how plant-based diets interact with genetic susceptibility to atherosclerosis and body fat in ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Analyzing dietary exposure to critical nutrients on a plant-based diet using the food- and total nutrient index

open access: yesNutrition Journal
Abstract Background Unfortified plant-based diets are devoid of vitamin B12, and supply low intakes of iodine, zinc, selenium, and calcium. To disentangle the complex interplay between nutritional adequacy and nutrient intakes from supplements and foods in plant-based diets, data from a Germany-based cross-sectional ...

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Association between plant-based diets and depressive symptoms among Chinese middle-aged and older adults

open access: yesnpj Science of Food
This study aimed to evaluate associations between plant-based diets and the prevalence of depressive symptoms (DepS) among Chinese middle-aged and older adults. This study included 3153 participants aged 45 and older. Dietary intake was collected using a

Association of plant-based food intake in daily diets and hypertension in older adults: a cohort study

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health
IntroductionHypertension is a major health concern among older adults, linked to high morbidity and mortality. While plant-based diets may offer health benefits, their association with hypertension in this population remains unclear.

Association between the quality of plant‐based diets and risk of frailty

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, 2022
Background The Mediterranean diet and other dietary patterns rich in fruits and vegetables have been linked to lower risk of frailty in older adults. However, not all plant‐based diets are necessarily healthful, and no previous study has evaluated the ...

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.
