Regulation of Anthocyanin Accumulation in Tomato Solanum lycopersicum L. by Exogenous Synthetic dsRNA Targeting Different Regions of SlTRY Gene

open access: yesPlants
RNA interference (RNAi) is a regulatory and protective mechanism that plays a crucial role in the growth, development, and control of plant responses to pathogens and abiotic stresses.

Histone variants and modifications in plant gene regulation [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Opinion in Plant Biology, 2011
Genomes are packaged by complexing DNA with histone proteins, which provides an opportunity to regulate gene expression by dynamically impeding access of transcriptional regulatory proteins and RNA polymerases to DNA. The incorporation of histone variants into nucleosomes and addition of post-translational modifications to histones can alter the ...

miRNA/phasiRNA mediated regulation of plant defense response against P. syringae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Gene silencing is a mechanism of regulation of gene expression where the small RNAs (sRNAs) are key components for giving specificity to the system. In plants, two main types of noncoding small RNA molecules have been found: microRNAs (miRNAs) and small ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Impact of Exogenous dsRNA on miRNA Composition in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesPlants
The application of double-stranded RNAs (dsRNAs) to plant surfaces has emerged as a promising tool for manipulating gene expression in plants and pathogens, offering new opportunities for crop improvement.

Plant Responses to Abiotic Stress Regulated by Histone Deacetylases

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2017
In eukaryotic cells, histone acetylation and deacetylation play an important role in the regulation of gene expression. Histone acetylation levels are modulated by histone acetyltransferases and histone deacetylases (HDACs).

Exogenous RNAs for Gene Regulation and Plant Resistance [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2019
Recent investigations documented that plants can uptake and process externally applied double-stranded RNAs (dsRNAs), hairpin RNAs (hpRNAs), and small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) designed to silence important genes of plant pathogenic viruses, fungi, or insects.

Transcriptome analysis of Aspergillus niger xlnR and xkiA mutants grown on corn Stover and soybean hulls reveals a highly complex regulatory network. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BACKGROUND:Enzymatic plant biomass degradation by fungi is a highly complex process and one of the leading challenges in developing a biobased economy. Some industrial fungi (e.g.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

MPK3- and MPK6-mediated VLN3 phosphorylation regulates actin dynamics during stomatal immunity in Arabidopsis

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Plants can rapidly close stomata to restrict pathogen entry into leaves. Here the authors show that phosphorylation of villin3 by mitogen-activated protein kinases modulates actin remodeling to activate stomatal defense in Arabidopsis.
