Change in brain plasmalogen composition by exposure to prenatal undernutrition leads to behavioral impairment of rats. [PDF]
Epidemiological studies suggest that poor nutrition during pregnancy influences offspring predisposition to experience developmental and psychiatric disorders.

Plasmalogen Supplementation Studies in C elegans
Plasmalogens are a critical phospholipid in cognitive functions. It has been established that Alzheimer's patients exhibit diminished levels of plasmalogen, a consequence of peroxisomal dysfunction.

Plasmalogens as biomarkers and therapeutic targets. [PDF]
Plasmalogens are structurally similar to phosphatidylcholine or phosphatidylethanolamine but differ at the Sn-1 position, containing a vinyl-ether instead of an ester bond. Reduced levels of plasmalogens in circulation or in cell membranes are associated with rare peroxisomal disorders, systemic disease, neurological impairment, cancer, and diseases of

ENT1 inhibition links oligodendrocyte lipid metabolism to connectivity in tauopathy
Abstract INTRODUCTION Metabolic dysfunction, altered adenosine signaling, and white matter abnormalities are implicated in tauopathies, but their relationship to network disconnection remains unclear. Myelinating oligodendrocytes may represent a metabolically vulnerable hub linking these processes to circuit dysfunction.

ABSTRACT Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a fatal interstitial lung disease of unknown cause, marked by excessive deposition of extracellular matrix (ECM) components such as collagen. This pathological accumulation results in progressive destruction of the lung architecture and ultimately leads to respiratory failure.

On the synthesis of plasmalogens
The chemical synthesis is described of (rac)-trans-1-(n-hexadec-1′-enyloxy)-2-oleoylglycerol-3-phosphorylcholine (plasmalogen). This synthesis made use of a specific degradation of (rac)-trans-1-(n-hexadec-1′-enyloxy)-2,3-dioleoyl glycerol with pancreatic lipase (EC 3.1.1.3).
