Unexpected Remyelination in the Absence of Matrix Metalloproteinase 7

open access: yesGlia, EarlyView.
MMP7 is not essential for demyelination and remyelination in the cuprizone model. In MMP7−/− mice fibronectin aggregates do not accumulate in the remyelination phase. MMP7−/− mice have lower levels of fibronectin and hyaluronan after chronic demyelination.

Nix-mediated mitophagy regulates platelet activation and life span

open access: yesBlood Advances, 2019
: Platelet activation requires fully functional mitochondria, which provide a vital energy source and control the life span of platelets. Previous reports have shown that both general autophagy and selective mitophagy are critical for platelet function ...

Temporal Profiling of Male Cortical Astrocyte Transcription Predicts Molecular Shifts From Early Development to Aging

open access: yesGlia, EarlyView.
Comprehensive analysis of cortical astrocyte gene expression across the lifespan. Profiling dynamic changes of key astrocyte genes reveals functional shifts. Astrocytes contribute to gene‐length‐dependent transcription decline in the aging brain. ABSTRACT Astrocytes are the most abundant glial cell type in the central nervous system (CNS).

Perfect Absorption Metasurfaces with Multiple Meta-Resonances [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
We show that the hybrid resonances of a DMR backed by a cavity are meta-resonances, in that they can be made as perfect as possible by fine tuning the structural parameters but without the requirements of extreme materials properties, such as zero dissipation.

Urinary Proteomics and Systems Biology Link Eight Proteins to the Higher Risk of Hypertension and Related Complications in Blacks Versus Whites

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Blacks are more prone to salt‐sensitive hypertension than Whites. This cross‐sectional analysis of a multi‐ethnic cohort aimed to search for proteins potentially involved in the susceptibility to salt sensitivity, hypertension, and hypertension‐related complications.

Hetrombopag: A promising thrombopoietin receptor agonist for the treatment of primary and secondary immune thrombocytopenia

open access: yesRheumatology &Autoimmunity, EarlyView.
This review seeks to provide a thorough synthesis of the existing literature on the role of thrombopoietin receptor agonists in the treatment of primary and secondary immune thrombocytopenia, with particular emphasis on the compound Hetrombopag. Abstract Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is a rare autoimmune disorder characterized by a platelet count below

High-Fidelity Description of Platelet Deformation Using a Neural Operator [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The goal of this work is to investigate the capability of a neural operator (DeepONet) to accurately capture the complex deformation of a platelet's membrane under shear flow. The surrogate model approximated by the neural operator predicts the deformed membrane configuration based on its initial configuration and the shear stress exerted by the blood ...
