Yellowness of Selected Legume Flours as Function of Nutritional Composition, Mineral Content and Total Free Phenolic Content

open access: yesLegume Science, Volume 7, Issue 2, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Legume flours from sacha inchi (Plukenetia volubilis), pea (Pisum sativum), faba bean (Vicia faba), chickpea (Cicer arietinum) and lentil (Lens culinaris) were analysed in a comprehensive study to identify potential sources for the development of yellow colour, which could limit their use in fortified food.

Estimation of genetic parameters of Plukenetia volubilis L. seed germination

open access: yesRevista de Ciências Agrarias - Amazon Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, 2013
Plukenetia volubilis L. is a species that needs improvement to make commercial exploitation feasible, especially with regard to the seed quality. For this purpose, populations with rapid and uniform germination, followed by prompt seedling emergence are highly desirable for seedling production.

Intercropping of non‐leguminous crops improves soil biochemistry and crop productivity: a meta‐analysis

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 246, Issue 3, Page 961-971, May 2025.
Summary Plant species‐rich systems tend to be more productive than depauperate ones. In agroecosystems, increasing crop plant diversity by including legumes often increases soil nitrogen (N) and improves soil fertility; however, such generality in outcomes of non‐leguminous crop mixture is unknown. Here, through a meta‐analysis of 174 individual cases,

Dietary nutrients that potentially mitigate autism spectrum disorder and dietary recommendations for children and pregnant women

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 5, Issue 3, Page 920-946, May 2024.
Existing dietary patterns suitable for ASD children were critically discussed. Existing dietary patterns for ASD can be complemented by food‐derived nutrients. Dietary for pregnant women could be recommended according to ASD‐related risk factors. Abstract The increasing incidence of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) worldwide poses serious social and ...

Valorization of biomass for food protein via deep eutectic solvent extraction: Understanding the extraction mechanism and impact on protein structure and properties

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 5, Issue 3, Page 1265-1301, May 2024.
Innovative protein extraction techniques are essential for sustainability. Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) enable simultaneous extraction of soluble and insoluble proteins from biomass, showcasing promise in valorizing underutilized protein‐rich sources. This paper reviews DES‐based extraction, highlighting its extraction mechanism.

Environmental heterogeneity influences liana community differentiation across a Neotropical rainforest landscape

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 14, Issue 3, March 2024.
By analyzing liana community variation among land units (LUs) that differ in geomorphology and soil properties along a 640‐ha tropical rainforest landscape in a neotropical reserve, we found strong evidence supporting our hypothesis that environmental heterogeneity, as represented by discrete LUs, promotes differentiation in liana composition across ...
