Potassium‐Ion Battery Electrodes from Potassium Ferricyanide Nanoplatelets: Thin Platelets and Thick Electrodes Unlock High Areal Capacity and Excellent Rate Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, Volume 15, Issue 23, June 17, 2025.
This study converts bulk KFC powder into 2D nanoplatelets using a simple liquid‐phase exfoliation. These 2D nanoplatelets are mixed with carbon nanotubes to create porous, conductive, and robust electrodes with thicknesses reaching up to 105 µm. The KFC/SWCNT nanocomposite achieves an areal capacity of 0.65 mAh cm−2 at 20 mA g−1, with a retention of 92%

Molecular characterization of pncA gene mutations in Brazilian Mycobacterium tuberculosis clinical isolates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A Pirazinamida (Z), droga de primeira linha usada no tratamento da tuberculose, necessita ser hidrolisada pela enzima bacteriana pirazinamidase (PZase) para que o seu metabólito ativo, o ácido pirazinóico (POA), possa agir.

Potential unexpected effects of meat reduction in diet: Could educational attainment influence meat substitution strategies?

open access: yesAgricultural and Food Economics
Regulation of meat consumption appears to be a relevant public policy to limit diet-related greenhouse gas emissions. However, the real impact of such a policy (e.g., tax) on human health and nutrition remains uncertain, especially for underprivileged ...

Prevalence and molecular characterization of pyrazinamide resistance among multidrug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis isolates from Southern China

open access: yesBMC Infectious Diseases, 2017
Background Pyrazinamide (PZA) plays a unique role in the treatment for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) in both first- and second-line regimens.

The Recent Development in the Diagnosis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis

open access: yesSmart Medicine, Volume 4, Issue 2, June 2025.
Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) remains a major global health challenge due to slow, low‐sensitivity traditional diagnostics. Rapid, highly sensitive point‐of‐care tests are critical for timely diagnosis and treatment, reducing transmission. This study reviews the evolution of MTB diagnostic tests, emphasizing advancements and addressing accessibility

pncA gene mutations in reporting pyrazinamide resistance among the MDR-TB suspects

open access: yesInfection, Genetics and Evolution, 2019
Mutations in pncA gene contributing to PZA resistance was not clearly elucidated in China. To reveal the correlated mutations of pncA gene on pyrazinamide (PZA) resistance. 148 Mycobacterium tuberculosis clinical isolates were included from multi-drug resistant tuberculosis suspects.

Detection of Pyrazinamide-Resistant Mycobacteriumtuberculosis by PCR-SSCP of pncA Gene

open access: yesTuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases, 1998
Background : Recently the incidence of tuberculosis is increasing in many countries and control of the disease is further threatened by the emergence of multi-drug resistant tuberculosis. So rapid detection of drug resistance is very important. Pyrazinamide (PZA) is a first-line chemotherapeutic agent for tuberculosis.

Effects of alimentary-derived bacterial metabolites on energy metabolism in colonic epithelial cells and inflammatory bowel diseases

open access: yesExploration of Medicine
In this review, we present the main luminal fuels that are responsible for energy production in colonocytes, namely the bacterial metabolites short-chain fatty acids and lactate, which are produced from undigestible polysaccharides and proteins, and ...

High prevalence of phenotypic pyrazinamide resistance and its association with pncA gene mutations in Mycobacterium tuberculosis isolates from Uganda.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
INTRODUCTION:Susceptibility testing for pyrazinamide (PZA), a cornerstone anti-TB drug is not commonly done in Uganda because it is expensive and characterized with technical difficulties thus resistance to this drug is less studied.

Consider the midden

open access: yesInscriptions, 2021
Those who read the essay may be reminded of A.R. Ammon's poem, “Garbage” which a correspondant recently called to my attention. The overlap is coincidental; at time of writing, I was ignorant of that work. This essay investigates meanings of an old term:
