Microglial dynamics and ferroptosis induction in human iPSC‐derived neuron–astrocyte–microglia tri‐cultures

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A tri‐culture of iPSC‐derived neurons, astrocytes, and microglia treated with ferroptosis inducers as an Induced ferroptosis model was characterized by scRNA‐seq, cell survival, and cytokine release assays. This analysis revealed diverse microglial transcriptomic changes, indicating that the system captures key aspects of the complex cellular ...

Bacterial Strain from Biofilm on Surface of Poly(Ethylene Terephthalate) from Soil in Chernihiv City (Ukraine) Used as Potential Agent of Biodegradation

open access: yesBiology and Life Sciences Forum
Bacteria actively degrade polymeric materials due to high biochemical activity and the ability to form biofilms. In order to expand our knowledge about soil bacterial biodiversity on the surface of artificial materials from the soil of Chernihiv (Ukraine)

The association of Alu repeats with the generation of potential AU-rich elements (ARE) at 3' untranslated regions.

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2004
Background A significant portion (about 8% in the human genome) of mammalian mRNA sequences contains AU (Adenine and Uracil) rich elements or AREs at their 3' untranslated regions (UTR). These mRNA sequences are usually stable.

C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

Temperature- and pH-Responsive Poly(NIPAM-co-HEMA-co-AAm) Nanogel as a Smart Vehicle for Doxorubicin Delivery; Combating Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesGels
In this project, a new class of temperature- and pH-sensitive hydrogel consisting of N-isopropyl acrylamide (NIPAM), hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), and acrylamide (AAm) was prepared via a controlled route through the reversible addition–fragmentation ...

PARP inhibitors induce a senescence phenotype in non‐small cell lung carcinoma cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Talazoparib is the most potent inducer of senescence among different PARP1 inhibitors in human NSCLC cells. In the absence of PARP, no senescence phenotype was observed, demonstrating that PARP1 is necessary for the induction of senescence by this inhibitor.

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...
