Amino oxidase amperometric biosensor for polyamines
Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry and Interfacial Electrochemistry, 1991Abstract An improved amino oxidase enzyme electrode has been constructed and applied to the determination of the amount of polyamines present in real samples. The electrode is based on the amperometric detection of H 2 O 2 produced in the enzymatic oxidation of polyamines by amino oxidase.

Polyamine oxidase in higher plants
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1970Abstract A polyamine-specific oxidase found in the leaves of barley and maize seedlings oxidises spermine optimally at pH 4.5, the products being hydrogen peroxide, 1-(3-aminopropyl) pyrroline and 1,3-diaminopropane. Spermidine and 3,3′-diaminodipropylamine were oxidised more slowly than spermine with an optimum at about pH 7.0.

Highly-expressed polyamine oxidases catalyze polyamine back conversion in Brachypodium distachyon
Journal of Plant Research, 2017To understand the polyamine (PA) catabolic pathways in Brachypodium distachyon, we focused on the flavin-containing polyamine oxidase enzymes (PAO), and characterized them at the molecular and biochemical levels. Five PAO isoforms were identified from database searches, and we named them BdPAO1 to BdPAO5.

The polyamine oxidase inactivator MDL 72527
2002Polyamine oxidase is a FAD-dependent amine oxidase, which is constitutively expressed in nearly all tissues of the vertebrate organism. In 1985, N1,N4-bis(2,3-butadienyl)-1,4-butanediamine (MDL 72527) was designed as a selective enzyme-activated irreversible inhibitor of polyamine oxidase (EC 1.5.3.11).

Polyamine oxidase of millet shoots
Phytochemistry, 1986Abstract Polyamine oxidase was purified ca 168-fold from the acetone powder extract of millet shoots. The light yellow enzyme had maximum absorption at 278,380 and 460 nm. The absorption at 380 and 460 nm was decreased by the addition of spermidine. The enzyme (M, ca 80 000) showed a high specificity for spermine and spermidine (Kms 6 × 10−5 M and 5 ×

Metabolism of acetylpolyamines by monoamine oxidase, diamine oxidase and polyamine oxidase
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 1981N1-Monoacetylspermine, N1,N12-diacetylspermine and N1-monoacetylspermidine were found to be good substrates for rat liver polyamine oxidase, but not for rat liver mitochondrial monoamine oxidase. N8-Monoacetylspermidine, monoacetylcadaverine, monoacetylputrescine and monoacetyl-1,3-diaminopropane were oxidized by the monoamine oxidase when the ...

Serum polyamine oxidase activity in spontaneous abortion
BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 1982Summary. Serum polyamine oxidase activity was determined in 38 women admitted to the Maternity Department of Szombathely, Hungary, with clinical signs of threatened abortion between 11 and 22 weeks gestation and who aborted spontaneously with 48 h of admission.

POLYAMINE OXIDASE ACTIVITY IN HUMAN PREGNANCY SERUM
BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 1979SummaryThe existence of a spermine oxidizing enzyme was established in human pregnancy serum by a radiochemical method, and a cross‐sectional study of its quantitative profile between 10 and 40 weeks gestation was undertaken. Though there was a wide scatter of values, the rise in the average activity was continuous and highly significant.

Polyamine oxidase and tissue transglutaminase activation in rat small intestine by polyamines
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 1999Polyamine degradation was studied in the small intestine from rats fed on a polyamine-supplemented diet. Lactalbumin diet was given to Hooded-Lister rats, with or without 5 mg rat(-1) day(-1) of putrescine or spermidine for 5 days. Polyamine oxidase activity increased with putrescine and spermidine in the diet, whereas spermidine/spermine N(1 ...

Polyamines, polyamine oxidases and nitric oxide in development, abiotic and biotic stresses
Plant Science, 2011Nitric oxide (NO), polyamines (PAs), diamine oxidases (DAO) and polyamine oxidases (PAO) play important roles in wide spectrum of physiological processes such as germination, root development, flowering and senescence and in defence responses against abiotic and biotic stress conditions.
