Polysorbates, peroxides, protein aggregation, and immunogenicity – a growing concern [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Excipients and Food Chemicals
Aggregation can have a number of deleterious effects on biotherapeutics including the loss of efficacy, the induction of unwanted immunogenicity, altered pharmacokinetics, and reduced shelf life. Aggregation is ameliorated by the inclusion of surfactants

Boosting brackish water treatment via integration of mesoporous γ-Al2O3NPs with thin-film nanofiltration membranes

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
In this study, a simple method based on non-ionic surfactant polysorbates-80 was used to create mesoporous γ-Al2O3NPs. The properties of the prepared mesoporous alumina nanoparticles (Al2O3NPs) were verified using ATR-FTIR, XRD, SEM, TEM, DLS, and BET ...

Activating Paper Applying Gelatin, Starch and Chitosan Coatings Loaded With O/W Emulsions Encapsulating Rutin, Carvacrol and α‐Tocopherol

open access: yesPackaging Technology and Science, EarlyView.
Emulsion type governed the microstructure and functionality of papers coated with biopolymers matrix loaded with hydrophobic bioactives encapsulated into O/W emulsions. Emulsified systems improved UV–Vis barrier and antioxidant activity, whereas gelatin coatings with conventional or Pickering emulsions provided the greatest mechanical reinforcement ...

Biopharmaceutical classification of poorly soluble drugs with respect to “enabling formulations” [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The large number of drug candidates with poor dissolution characteristics seen in the past decade, has fostered interest in so-called "enabling formulations", i.e., formulations which shall make such drugs bio-available.

Structural Profiling of Lipid Nanoparticles at Sub‐10 nm Resolution via AF4 Coupled Online to SAXS and SANS

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
Dilution‐controlled AF4 coupled with SAXS and, for the first time, SANS enables high‐resolution characterization of non‐spherical lipid nanoparticles. Enhanced scattering contrast and D2O‐based measurements resolve particle features down to ∼5 nm and reveal shape distributions.

Electrospun Phospholipid Fibers as Micro-Encapsulation and Antioxidant Matrices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Electrospun phospholipid (asolectin) microfibers were investigated as antioxidants and encapsulation matrices for curcumin and vanillin. These phospholipid microfibers exhibited antioxidant properties which increased after the encapsulation of both ...

Gas Chromatographic Determination of 1,4-Dioxane in Polysorbate 60 and Polysorbate 80

open access: yesJournal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL, 1979
Abstract A gas chromatographic method is presented for the quantitative determination of 1,4- dioxane in polysorbate 60 and polysorbate 80. Dioxane is isolated from the matrix by closedsystem vacuum distillation with water as the carrier solvent.
