TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Geographic Structure Without Co‐Divergence: Genomic Insights Into a Highly Specific Symbiosis Between Siphamia Cardinalfish and Their Bioluminescent Symbiont

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
Symbiotic relationships with microorganisms are fundamental to life on Earth, yet relatively little is known about how these interactions persist through time, how they co‐diverge, and to which degree they are genetically constrained.

Contrasting population structure and demographic history of cereal aphids in different environmental and agricultural landscapes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Genetic diversity of populations has important ecological and evolutionary consequences, whose understanding is fundamental to improve the sustainability of agricultural production.

Diversity and population structure of red rice germplasm in Bangladesh

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
While the functionality and healthy food value of red rice have increased its popularity, such that market demand for it is expected to rise, most strains suffer from low grain yield.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Population and age structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper provides a contemporary overview of the changing size and composition of Australia\u27s Indigenous population. The paper is structured around six key demographic and geographic features of the Indigenous population: Age structure: The ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

The Influence of Shanghai’s Population Structure on City’s Housing Demand and the Solution for Housing Supply

open access: yes, 2012
In a city like Shanghai, where one of the biggest and fastest growing of both the population and quantity of housing demand and supply in the world exists, the need to estimate the influence of population transition on housing demand becomes a vital task.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Microspatial population genetic structure of the Mediterranean shrub Fumana thymifolia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Fumana thymifolia (Cistaceae) is an insect-pollinated, gravity-dispersed evergreen shrub, which is a common component of fire-prone Mediterranean shrubland ecosystems.
