Arsenic content and exposure in brown rice compared to white rice in the United States

open access: yesRisk Analysis, EarlyView.
Abstract Brown rice is often considered a healthy alternative to white rice due to the additional nutrients contained within the rice bran. However, the proposition of improved health outcomes by replacing white rice with brown rice in diets ignores a potential food safety concern: arsenic exposure.

Valorization of Fruit Waste Through Reutilization Approach: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yeseFood, Volume 6, Issue 4, August 2025.
Fruit and vegetable wastes (FVW) have the potential to be valued through both traditional waste management and creative waste re‐utilization techniques, as the graphical abstract illustrates. The main goals of conventional methods, such as anaerobic digestion, the creation of biochar, bio‐composting, and the manufacture of bio‐fuel, are soil enrichment

Detection and Characterization of Extended‐Spectrum Beta‐Lactamase‐Producing Escherichia coli in Raw Seafood From the Coastal Area of Bangladesh

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 14, Issue 4, August 2025.
This study determined the presence of extended‐spectrum beta‐lactamase‐producing Escherichia coli (ESBL‐EC) in seafood samples in Bangladesh. The findings also indicated that ESBL‐EC showed higher phenotypic resistance profiles and contained ESBL‐related resistance genes.

Identification and Application of a Novel Patulin Degrading Enzyme From Meyerozyma guilliermondii

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 25, July 3, 2025.
Patulin (PAT), a hazardous mycotoxin, threatens human health. A novel yeast‐derived short‐chain dehydrogenase/reductase effectively degrades PAT into nontoxic ascladiol via catalytic triad activity. The biological detoxification process has no significant effect on the quality of fresh pear juice.
