Crystal behavior of potassium bromate under compression

Acta Crystallographica Section B: Structural Science, Crystal Engineering and Materials, 2015
We report on high-pressure angle-dispersive X-ray diffraction data up to 15 GPa andab initiototal-energy calculations up to 242 GPa for KBrO3. No phase transition was found below 15 Pa in contrast to previously reported data. Its experimental bulk modulus in the quasi-hydrostatic regime isB0= 18.8 (9) GPa with a bulk modulus pressure derivativeB′0= 8.2

Final Report on the Safety Assessment of Sodium Bromate and Potassium Bromate

Journal of the American College of Toxicology, 1994
Sodium Bromate and Potassium Bromate are inorganic salts that act as oxidizing agents. Whereas there are currently no reported uses of Potassium Bromate, Sodium Bromate is used in permanent waves and related hair care products. No current data were available to indicate the concentrations at which this ingredient is used.

Potassium bromate poisoning

The Journal of Pediatrics, 1949
Summary 1. Three cases of poisoning due to ingestion of potassium bromate arepresented. 2. These cases illustrate a range of effects of toxic action of potassiumbromate, varying from moderate gastrointestinal irritation to severe toxic nephrosis. 3. A review of experimental data on the effects of potassium and sodiumbromate is presented.

POTASSIUM BROMATE POISONING

Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, 1947
BROMIDE intoxication is well defined in its manifestations and represents a not uncommon clinical entity. Bromate poisoning is rare, however, and it is only briefly mentioned in textbooks of pharmacology and toxicology.1In contrast to the many investigations on the chlorates, experimental studies of bromate action are few.2A review of the literature ...
