A novel highly functionalized furan analogues bearing imidazole–thiazole hybrids were prepared via efficient synthetic routes. Selected compounds were formulated into nanoparticle systems. Antimicrobial evaluation for all synthesized compounds and nanoformulations was evaluated against a panel of bacterial strains.

Three‐component coupling reactions of ketones, alkenes, and 1,2‐bis(phenylsulfonyl)ethylene (BPSE) proceed via one‐electron oxidation with K2S2O8 or Mn(OAc)3. Oxidative deprotonation of enols generates α‐keto radicals that undergo sequential alkene addition and BPSE trapping.

Fluorogenic Sydnones for Bioorthogonal Labeling of DNA
Conjugates of sydnones with cyanine‐styryl dyes combine bioorthogonal reactivity with fluorogenicity. The reactivity with bicyclo[6.1.0]non‐4‐yne (BCN)‐modified DNA showed second‐order rate constants of up to k2 = 2,300 M−1s−1 and fluorescence turn‐on by one magnitude of order.

The introduction of an EWG substituent, such as Br or I, at C(8) enables the 7‐hydroxyquinoline‐2‐ylmethyl cage to be removed from N‐benzylpyrrolidine upon irradiation with single‐photon visible light in an aqueous medium. This finding opens the way to further tuning of the structure–property relationships of quinoline‐based cages, with the aim of ...

ABSTRACT Background Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a diffuse, nonspecific inflammation of the colon of unknown cause. Basic and clinical studies suggest that UC may be ameliorated by dietary fiber intake. Fermented brown rice by Aspergillus oryzae (FBRA) is produced by fermenting brown rice and bran with A. oryzae. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of FBRA
