Lack of accumulation of ppGpp in sea urchin embryos

A tRNATyr promoter with an altered in vitro response to ppGpp

A synthetic alteration in the promoter sequence of the tRNA Tyr gene from (Ryan et al. , 1979) alters the in vitro regulation of the promoter by ppGpp such that synthesis of RNA from the mutant promoter responds to increasing concentrations of ppGpp in a reciprocal manner to that from the wild-type promoter.
