God’s Role in a Meaningful Life: New Reflections from Tim Mawson [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Characteristic of the contemporary field of life's meaning has been the combination of monism in method and naturalism in substance. That is, much of the field has sought to reduce enquiry into life's meaning to one question and to offer a single ...

What Are the Odds that Everyone is Depraved? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Why does God allow evil? One hypothesis is that God desires the existence and activity of free creatures but He was unable to create a world with such creatures and such activity without also allowing evil. If Molinism is true, what probability should be

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Critique of the One Reason. On the Systemic Unity of the Three ‘Critiques’

open access: yesRUDN Journal of Philosophy
There is still disagreement among researchers about the question of the intention, unity and coherence of Kant's philosophy. In view of the distance in time to Kant, this state of affairs is as surprising as it is unsatisfactory.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Application of the Principle Rule of Reason to the Determination of Airline Ticket Prices in Business Competition Practices

open access: yesPattimura Legal Journal
Introduction: Business competition often drives companies to engage in unfair practices, including violations of the rule of reason principle, where market dominance is achieved through cartel-like behavior.

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

‘Abstract Endangerment’, Two Harm Principles, and Two Routes to Criminalisation

open access: yesBergen Journal of Criminal Law and Criminal Justice, 2015
We need to distinguish, as theorists too often fail to distinguish, two distinct harm principles. One, the Harmful Conduct Principle, concerns the criminalisation of conduct that is itself harmful or dangerous: that principle cannot explain how we can ...
